Voted: Problem - Dealer yet to fix (manual)

Have just got home from a trip to the dealers. 19,000kms on the clock, have developed a very loud CRUNCH when doing the 1-2 shift under anything more than mid throttle. The service guy that came for the test drive rang BTR (I think that's the manufacturer) and they are getting back to him. The bloke he spoke to said they had received back gearboxes with crunching problems on 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th, so they will probably want my gearbox to pull it to bits and study. So should mean a new gearbox rather than just replacing the synchros. The service guy suggested that it was "slow synchros" or something.

Over the diff whine, but haven't complained about it to the dealer yet. They could not be less interested in hearing about problems. Tell them about anything and they give you the "We'll look into it during the service..."

People thank you for voting.

We need to get an idea on who has what problem

Why?

I understand the reason behind some of the people "whinging" (I am one of em) about their driveline problems.

They bought their cars before it was a known issue.

You on the other hand bought your car knowing that you could of/would of had the drivline shunt.

Now its too late, you've bought the car cause you wanted the shunt.

Now you don't want the shunt (make up your mind), and what are you going to do about it?

Write a letter to Ford? Good on ya, this poll will really effect what they think/say/do about it [/sarcasm]

Make this public? And degrade the resale value of every single BA falcon out there? Like the resale isn't sh*t enough as it is.

Dangerous and sh*tty parking :ermm:

7500k and diff whine around 95 - 100kmh and every morning when cold. Putting up with it at the moment, waiting to see if there is some sort of resolution from FoMoCo. :spoton:

:o

Good point about resale, but then should we close the brake shudder poll as well?

Threads won't make a difference.

Going public to ACA, TT, news sources, other similar places will effect resale.

And going by the previous posts from Zap, that is exactly what he wants to do.

Cro,

I knew that there was a chance that my car could have driveline issues, but I did not want them. I was hoping I would not have them

I did not start this poll to devalue anyones cars, on the contrary, I want people to see the statistics. My bet is there are many Auto's that have no problems at all and that the main problem with the cars is the manual gearbox and not the diffs. I have been checking out my car and I am now certain that the diff is not the problem. To do a poll to say what have you got and has it been fixed, will give me a better idea on if this problem is widespread and if it has been fixed ...HOW ?

If we can go to a dealer and say that 10 people have had their clunks fixed by gearbox replacements and 10 people have had the whining diffs fixed by grade 10 diff replacements, the we are saving ourselves and the dealers a lot of wasted time.

I want my problem sorted, but I also want to better understand the problem. :spoton:

Cro,

I do not think it will get to the media, unless someone pick it up from here. I do not want it put on every TV about this problem because I do not think it is as widespread as some people might think.

I want to problem solved, but I do not want to waste time and getting upset in the process.

I do not hate my car because of the clunking, I love my car, but the clunking is unacceptable and will be fixed. From the reaction I have had from the dealers, it looks possitive, but I will wait and see what happens when I take it in for service.

The only way to fix this problem is to be one voice speaking the same words, then we will be heard. If Ford do not solve the problems then it might get nasty, but I do not think they want their name dragged through the mud.
