Hi all,

I've just put my order for a Acid Rush XR6t Manual.

I was wondering if any one has timed there car(man/auto)

cause I was wondering.

I met some bloke at the FPV open day and he said he has

driven both and that the AUTO is faster. Can anyone clarify?

Also has anyone got any dyno outputs that they want to post on

this site would be cool :birthdaywish:

Sorry I don't have any times, however I have a family member that works for Ford in the 'test driving' department (sorry not sure what the correct title is called). He also claims that the auto is the fastest from point to point and a better buy in general. I'm a manual bloke myself so it’s a jagged pill to swallow. I'm yet to drive an auto for myself.

Sorry guys I'm new to this.

When is dyno day and where is it.

How could an auto be faster, can you holds you revs and get a better start

off the line?

Also don't you lose power from manual to auto?

CDAA, what do you mean point to point(straight line).

Thanks.

Point to point is a term used normally in relation to real life road driving, rather than straight line 400m performance. In real life the use the auto is claimed to get you from point A to point B faster than the manual. I think the reason is linked to the torque and turbo of this engine working extremely well with the shift pattern of the auto. The auto is also a faster shift in general as the manual is slower.

For the 400m strip it has been said that if you hold revs at 1800 - 2000 rpm and then launch your times will improve in contrast to standard starts in the auto.

Don't get me wrong here, I'm 'no auto is best’ kind of guy. This is just a summary of people’s experience in general. If manual is your thing, definitely buy that or you will regret it (and vis-versa).

As far as speed is concerned, I think people get carried away with your 0-100 test. Auto or manual is horses for courses. If the auto is faster 0-100 .. that's great. No problems. But on the track, I guarantee it would be a different story.

I was gonna get the auto after hearing reviews that manual was slow and heavy. Got the chance to have a go on the Manual and my mind was changed. I dont think its heavy at all!!! especially when you compare it to the SS manual that I drive now. The shift is a bit notchy but I dont think it will be difficult to get used to.

Just like its been said before, its all up to your preference. I too was concerned about which one was faster. But then came to realise that its not that important when the difference is quite frankly not that much.

Dyno graphs will be interesting to see :D

The Auto is faster to 100km because the manual shift requires too long-a throw and can be a bit too reluctant to compete with the auto's 90km/h first gear. The change slows the manual too much, sadly I know that the XR8's gearbox is much better, but they stuck with the old T5 in the six.

The Auto is faster over 400m because of the acceleration to 80km/h; it doesn't need a change, so while the manual's speedo is chatching up after the change, the auto is still doing 10-20km/h faster and stretching out a lead.

I have heard of people doing sub-14s over 400 in legal drags at calder park. No SV8, SS or Clubsport could match the auto force-fed six :pinch:
