I read an interesting article recently, regarding the cost per litre others pay, converted to the Aussie dollar......

Australia.....$1.05 p/l

USA.............. 78c p/l

England.......$2.40 p/l

Iraq................ 4c p/l

Lucky the tanks are fuel guzzlers otherwise fuel would be even cheaper in Iraq

There are no cars left there to blow up

I wish australia would find an oil mine, one with lots of fuel in it so we can get cheap cheap pertrol

The ironic part is that Australia mines far more oil that what it uses - but its all the wrong grade.

There is a shale oil plant north of Gladstone going through the pilot stages and they reportedly have more than 50 years supply (my parents property is being resumed as part of it) - but again its not petroleum grade.

We do its off the west coast alittle bit ,the largest field in the south,

but we price oil on the world pricing not what it cost to make here

About half th cost of fuel at the bowser is made of various Govt taxes.

So much for the GST getting rid of "hidden taxes"!

......and what is worse, the fuel we get here is crap compared to other countries. I think Japans pump fuel has an octane of around 105....... the most we get is 98 !!!
