Mine was $108 or something - without the oil change. But it seems that their pricing is almost as eratic as their service levels!

I paid $126 with oil. But the survice book sugests 18 minuts for them to rotate the wheels wich I thought was excessive at 70 bucks an hour, so I told them not to do the rotation. I took it to tyre joint and had it done for $8 :crybaby:

I have long held the belief that our Canberra Ford dealers left much to be desired when it came to maintaining and improving the Turbo. Sagas such as brake shudder, diff whine and ‘over-boost’ often appeared beyond the capability of these dealers to effectively address.

Somewhat against my better judgement I ventured back to my Canberra dealer last week to first of all to discuss and get some degree of ‘dealer sanction’ for my various mods and to then book the T in for its 15k service which required them to also address the issues of power steering judder and intermittent ABS and Traction Control lights.

What a pleasant surprise was had all round.

I provided a full list of all items that had been changed on the car – rotors, pads, 2nd CAI, front shox/springs etc, and of course the fitment of a Unichip. All were duly noted without any fuss or misgivings, indeed there was some discussion that ensued on how effective these changes were judged to be, with some alternative suggestions also being offered.

I have just collected the car from the service/fault diagnosis and repair. A full and thorough 15k service was carried out (including ‘free’ handbrake adjustment), the fault with the front ABS sensors was found and the sensor replaced (attributed to incorrect re-assembly of components after the extreme coil-overs were fitted, but was still covered under warranty). The full TSB on power steering was undertaken (figure of 8s, flush and bleed followed by hose change). Although all appears ok at present they undertook to replace the entire steering rack under warranty should this issue recur and encouraged me to stay in touch and let them know the results of their efforts to-date.

They also had some concern with the diff whine and have ordered a replacement diff to be replaced under warranty upon arrival.

I had supplied the oil for the engine but not the filter and thus the total cost of the repairs and servicing came to $132.20, including GST. All professionally and cheerfully undertaken with a genuine level of interest in maintaining this vehicle to the standard in which I maintain it.

I’ll report subsequently on how the power steering and diff issues go. The PBR premium brake upgrade package is planned to happen next week.

Which dealer?........let's just say they are not in either Civic or Belconnen, ACT.

Well I just had the service last night, cost me friggin $357 for an oil change, they checked every single thing on the car from filters to brakes to tyres to ECU.

I ended up with the new ECU software (post overboost), noticed stuff all difference except that she seemed to be much more responsive off idle, more torquey. :spoton:

Fuel tank got removed and adjusted straps so that the fuel filler was accessible.

Colour coded door trim was peeling again, instead of glueing it they ordered a new one and need to get it painted and glued on later in the week.

The front brakes got machined.

And the powersteering shudder is normal (my arse!)

And the service manager spent 10 mins grilling me about the location of my Hobbs switch (pressure sender). I had it spliced into the brake booster line. He said it was highly dangerous and illegal and my insurance was void (but not my warrenty [oh yay]). It even states in writing on my service report that it was illegal and had to removed from the car the next day. It will cause an accident. The service manager said he races turbo's outside of Ford and reckons its the worse place to have it. He suggest tapping into the alluminium crossover instead.

So I have ordered a new brake booster line for $15 (comes in Thurs) and will atempt to fit that before I go away for the weekend.

I am still unsure if this manager actually cared about what he was telling me or was just cut because my Turbo was 'slightly' modified. Ah well. :spit:

Anyone else had crap like this? :gooff:

The disparities between dealers is unbelievable! :spoton:

It's called setting out clear guidelines and regular communication Ford!!!!

Mine dealer complimented me on mine, and commented how tasteful it was because it fitted into the fairmont clock, and looked factory. :gooff:
