Hi guys,

Was reading through the forums and I have noticed that a few people are having issues with the new updates that ford is releasing for the computer.

Do you guys think it would be a bad idea to tell my dealer NOT to install any updates as the car is running fine as it is ?? (no stalling, no rough idle no issues)

Im seriously contemplating doing this as I have read a couple posts where people have taken a perfectly good car in for service, and came out with a car that was stalling and so on!!

Any advice would be much appreciated,

Regz

Dean.

Just tell the to leave it alone. It's runnung perfect and just a service would be fine. Most dealers would be more than happy to just service it and nothing else.Just take note of your PCM in the engine bay before you take it in.Most dealers will either write on or stick a label on it to indicate that it has been updated.

Just a thought, if I told them not to do it, and they did it, would they be liable to return the car back to as it was before they serviced it ?

I so wish I had done that now FordTech..... Then again I had to do it to see if it helped witht he weird gearbox action... Naturally it didn't.

If you car runs fine definetly don't get an update!

You could ask them to but there's a good chance they would be reluctant to do it.Unfortunately it would mean reinstalling an earlier release calibration into their WDS which takes a while to do.

yeah, that's an issue then, cause I wouldnt be too happy if my car left there with more probs then it went in with !!

Ok decided, im going to tell them to stay away from the ecu

Thanks for the info guys :)

XR6ism, keep us posted.

I'm in a similar situation.

I have none of the problems a lot of others are experiencing. (stalling, poor idle, loss of power etc)

The only issue is the car doesn't start everytime when in Park. I have to manually put it into N(eutral) occasionally. I would assume this is a mechanical switch adjustment, and nothing to do with the PCM, so I'm gonna tell the service crew to NOT reflash me.

Let us know how you go.

cheers

I noticed my ute has no power when its cold, and it gradually comes on as the temp gets hotter. And my idle is rough as, it idles like it has a stage 2 crow cam in EB. But I like it that way. When it is hot, it ferkin hammers though, very very fast!!
