Why do you want your car to "sneeze" in between gears, it sounds so lame IMO.

:D

Well said Falchoon! I'll spend my dosh on peformance, not pretty sounds. :P

well all this talk about an upgraded BOV on a BA is kinda exciting - but will the BA take a BOV that vents the access into the atmosphere.....as sum engines jus refuse to idle wif that kind of set up

In "some" cases (probably most) a BOV upgrade is purely for the RICE factor, however......

A BOV is used for the simple purpose of venting excess pressurised air on closed throttle. This reduces lag & improves throttle response. It also prevents the pressurised air from being forced back through the compressor & slowing it down (hence the BOV reducing lag) Without a BOV a closed throttle gives pressurised intake air no other path but back through the compressor causing it to slow right down. Ultimately putting a huge load on it!

The factory BOV is designed for factory boost pressures & airflow levels, plus some level of engineering tolerance. If you start raising boost levels & airflow (larger turbo, more efficient intercooler/intake/exhaust etc...) then the factory BOV "may" struggle to cope.

1. The factory BOV can leak as it isn't strong enough to hold closed under raised boost, or increased airflow. With no form of adjustability, short of modifying the stock item, aftermarket is the only option.

2. It may not leak but is no longer able to vent the "total" intake charge & therefore allows some air to return back through the compressor, causing compressor surge.

It's the latter reason I upgraded the BOV on my R33 Skyline.

So in short, if the factory valve isn't leaking (you'll know if it is!!!) & isn't causing compressor surge (fluttering sound) the only reason to replace it is looks/sound.

whatsisname is absolutely correct.

Falchoon> You got in before me mate - if these dipsticks wanted ricers why didn't they go buy one to begin with.

I would hate my Ford XR6 T to sound like every other ricer on the block. I'd prefer to just blow them away with quiet, effective power and leave them wallowing in their hissy little pose mobiles. My ZL does just that and I love the looks of "WTF was that?!"

YES THE XR6T HAS A BOV IT IS A BOSCH UNIT . IT IS A PLUMB BACK SYSTEM .THIS BOV IS A VALVE INDUCED BOV . IT IS GOOD FOR AT LEAST 12PSI BEFORE U GET ANY LEAKAGE SO DONT GO WASTING MONEY IF THIS ONE DOZ THE JOB. NOW IF U WANT THE AHHCCHHHHOOOOO SOUND AGAIN DONT WASTE your MONEY ILL TELL U THE SECRET OF HOW TO GET THE SOUND FROM THIS SAME UNIT .SEE WHERE THE BOV IS LOCATED AT THE BACK OF THE INDUCTION PLUMBING DISCONNECT THE BLOW OFF WHERE IT PLUMBS BACK TO THE SYSTEM GET A PLASTIC STOPPER FOR THE HOSE THAT PLUMBS BACK TO THE SYSTEM (make sure there are no leaks cause car wont run)AND LEAVE THE BOV EXPOSED TO THE ATMOSPHERE THEN U WILL HAVE THE SOUND. FOR A $2 EXPENSE FOR A RUBBER STOPPER that's NOT BAD .PERFORMANCE IS THE SAME DONT EXPECT, ANY GAINS WITH IT, BOOSTING AT 6PSI

Give it a go.

The car will stall and will not idle.
