Guest SIK_XE Guests Posted 06/12/02 01:42 PM Share Posted 06/12/02 01:42 PM yes it has a blow off valve already but it is plumbackit does the job and has the noise (however quiet- still there)all another blow-off valve would do now is make a louder noise that's alloh and yes any mods in this area will void warranty they are being so damn strict with it :(

I love the sound of my BOV, but yeah it's a bit too quiet. Going hunting this weekend for a GFB or TurboSmart BOV. Am ganna see if I can try both the straight "PSSSST" one or the fluttering kind that's like what it's got standard. Will let you all know how I go, and after a week if there's any adverse reactions. Guest KiwiXR6T Guests Posted 12/12/02 07:01 AM Share Posted 12/12/02 07:01 AM A BOV is definately one of the great excessories I'd add to my car, but man would I be cheesed if the Gear Box went, and the dealer goes "sorry mate, your BOV voids your warrenty".... Call me a skeptic, but the warrenty rule is one that I think Ford will call us one whenever they can."Yeah buddy.... my BOV blew a hole in the freakin Gear Box!" I think it'd be just too much...... would definately have to slap him.
Guest HoldenMan Guests Posted 13/12/02 01:21 AM Share Posted 13/12/02 01:21 AM The Flutter sound you hear isnt a BOV, its air hitting the closed throttle body and changing direction

Guest GIANT Guests Posted 15/12/02 01:07 PM Share Posted 15/12/02 01:07 PM If you want more blow off valve noise the easiest and safest way to get it is to change the air filter styleas in a air ram pod or similar!the by product of that is more power too!! as you are removing the restrictions!! :D it will be louder because you will here it venting back through the ram pod intake because noise filtering is minimal. Guest HoldenMan Guests Posted 16/12/02 12:07 AM Share Posted 16/12/02 12:07 AM Whats so unsafe about a BOV? and im sure the Air Filter (replacing the stock air box) would have more chance voiding warranty than a simple BOV. And I agree the sound is close to what it osunds like but its not the real thing is it.
Guest GIANT Guests Posted 16/12/02 01:55 PM Share Posted 16/12/02 01:55 PM for starters holdenman the xr6t engine is fitted with a blow off valve, it is just that it is vented back into the air inlet.one of the problems you can face when fitting some blow off valves or try to externally dump the unit that is already on it, is that on partial throttle positions the actual dump valve has the ability to suck unfiltered and unmetered air in the same port! which is why some units have adjustments to control the pressure settings for when the valve opens. Why do you want your car to "sneeze" in between gears, it sounds so lame IMO. I'm sure there are much better things you can do with the money.
