Just wondering ..Ihave just changed inlet tubing from my air box to the throttle body to a wider diameter.I took it for a drive and It didnt give me neck snapping performance. The tubing is air inlet ducting from repco. It does away with all the small bottle necks and restrictions ,except forthe standard air box.It also as a v8 air snorkel .When I took all tubing off and went up the road with exposed throttle body it was fishtailing all the way.Can anyone tell me why.It is normally aspirated. The tubing is ribbed....does this make a difference to atomisation from injectors??Would smooth rampod type tubing material be better..will it flow better???Or do away with standard air box and stick a rampod on??If I do this I would be looking at cold air positioning .Away from standard. It is an AU but I do imagine that the same rules for tubing wouldapply to forced induction air streaming. If you guys an help I d really appreciate it...

The smoother the intake duct is the faster the air will flow through it. If your not worried about getting defects then put pod filter on it but supply it with plenty of cold air and partition off the area where the filter is. The other option is to put the GT pod filter system off the BA which would look more legal and work quite well. If you do want some extra KW from intake mods then get the throttle body high flowed, this will make a difference.

FYI - The GT and the XR8 have identical pods and filters.

Chuck a XR8 pod on.  Great bang for bucks.

I've got a BA XR6 turbo and converting to a Ba XR8 airbox where I can get the tubing from inlet to the xr8 pod airbox.can I use the original one.thanks

Don't think atomization is an issue, the injectors should do a pretty good job of that.

It has to go through the turbo first. So a smooth textured inlet would be best to reduce drag on the inlet air being drawn into the turbo.

Did you notice any power gains over the stock xr6t filter system?

Yup - inline with the comments made by ms700, (who helped source the parts and with nice clear instructions on how it shoudl feel as it goes together) the intake does make a difference.

I pulled the filter out a couple of days ago and it's possible to see the 'dirt' on it showing how the air comes in through the BPT piece as well as blows yup through the XR8 under headlight duct.

It also gave me a few improvements in consistency between runs on the Dyno.
