Hi Suresh,

Do you have any other pics ?

Like some others, I'd like to stick to 17" to keep the cost of tyres down.

Can the existing wheels be polished ?

The existing wheels can be polished, but be careful on the choice of polisher. I've seen a few shockers in my time. Keep in mind that polished wheels need a lot more TLC than painted wheels

I do have a few others...but due to confidentiality issues, I can't quite post them on the web.

:spoton: Suresh! Sounds like a cool job mate! I've got the 17's on my T but I definitely prefer the design of the 18's (just not the tyre replacement cost). Love the rims on GT's too! :w00t2:

hey dude, brake dust is a pain but I use the high pressure soap at a car warsh and it takes about 30 seconds per wheel once a fortnight.

works great.

Hi suresh,

Just wondering if you can say whether or not the series 2 XR's will get a different design for the rims?

Thanks!

Hello to all fellow Ford nuts.

I am a new member to the forum and really enjoy reading the numerous posts.

What do you guys/gals think about the wheels on the current XR range - both the 17" & 18" variants?

Has anybody out there changed to larger OD rims? If so, why?

I work at FMC as the Wheel Design Engineer and would love to hear what customers out there would like to see on the next generation XR's.

Polished or chrome mags please will look great against black

Suresh,

Mate good to see more info.

So I am assuming that the pic you posted is the std 17" XR rim but painted like the old rebels black with chrome edges.. (I had some on the old XW HO) Nice... I may have a play with Photoshop to see how this may look on the Phantom with Black wheels with Chrome spokes...

Just on the wheel choice. I am more than happy with the 17's and 18's. As per above, the costs of replacing the tyres on the 18's are pricey due to the slightly odd size....

Keep up the good work.. :w00t2:

Hi All,

Anyone know of a good business in the penrith/parramatta/sydney area that polishes rims and roughly how much it costs?

The ones shown on the AU look great!

I have polished EF XR8 16's on my EF sedan.

I clean my car religiously every Saturday morning weather permitting.

I made some plastic covers to go behind the wheels to keep the brake dust off the polished alloy.

After almost 7 years they still shine but I'm tempted to get them pro-polished up again. Check'em out - this was a "as new" pic 7 years ago :)
