For acceleration any weight saved makes a big difference as well as reducing fuel usage. For track usage can the seats, power windows etc be easily removed and what sort of weight savings can be achieved. It would be nice if Ford released a bare bones version with maybe Premium brakes, and a hotted up chip, with all the heavy extras removed or as options. This could reduce the price as well as giving a better sports car.Is it true that the police models come with manual windows ?How much weight have other people managed to get rid of ?For drag strip use do people remove the bonnet ? I see no problem with the car weighing as much as it does as it still goes hard and handles well and is practical. I know what car I would be rather in during a head on.. 900kg excel vs 1800kg BA? The BA would rip through the tin can Excel like a bullet through glass! (It's just bolted on, and will shed quite a few kilo's ( I'm only guessing, but I'd say the tray would weigh at least 350 kg) So that would bring it back to about 1500 kg) Add your APS ? Nizpro kit for about 350 kW, and you have a weight to power ratio of around 4.3 kg / watt. How many cars do you know of with that performance specification! The non-turbo XR6s have wind-down windows in the rear but have power windows as standard in the front. Pretty sure even the XTs have power windoes these days.I think Scotty has the right idea (had to happen one day ), get a Cortina and throw a XR6T motor in one of them. There was an XR6T motor and trans on ebay the other week for about $6500.
