Guest unifex Guests Posted 26/05/04 08:19 AM Share Posted 26/05/04 08:19 AM Hey guys I know I am going to get 10000 pro ford responses to this question but I thought I would get some advice from owners.I have been debating between buying a XR6T and WRX HatchHas anyone gone from one to the other ? What were their impressions etc..? I like to scuba dive but I also want a fast car as well. Consequently I need a decent amount of cargo space (hence considering the wrx hatch). However, the Ford looks nicer but I guess would devalue faster. The wrx must use premium the ford apparently can use either (although I will probably use prem). I like the techtronic style auto in the ford (sick of manuals). The two cars will cost almost the same amount (due to fleet discount). A big negative ive heard is the XR6T is thirsty ? What are peoples impressions on this what do you trip computers say and are you lead foots? I am kinda a led foot and my little 1.6 use 10+l/100km. Which is faster of the two I hear the wrx is faster yet there are hints the xr6 is. I realize the wrx is a manual so its hardly a fair comparison but still im curious.oh and the other thing how does the fords LSD/IRS/Traction control compare to the WRX all wheel drive. Anyway opinions advice etc.. welcome I am at a deadlock

The lack of rear space in the MY03 sedan can be an issue. Brian

Guest Scootre Guests Posted 26/05/04 08:58 AM Share Posted 26/05/04 08:58 AM Hi UnifexGood luck with whatever decision you make - and welcome to the party here. One thing to consider when thinking about money (you raised the question of devaluation) would be insurance. My T costs $1100 per year (full ncb ect, Sydney metro, (well) over 30 driver etc). A WRX would cost me double that I believe.

The auto WRX hatch would be slower than any transm. XR6T, the XR6T also overtakes like a demon. The XR6T would certainly consume more fuel (but can do good things when driven modestly). Also check out the insurance premiums on each car.Bottom line is to test drive each car. You could even find some here who may be willing to take u for a drive in theirs. Guest unifex Guests Posted 26/05/04 09:58 AM Share Posted 26/05/04 09:58 AM Can people tell me what their fuel consumption per 100km is? I looked at a couple of second hand ones and they seemed around 13l/100 But I'd like to get the idea of what leadfoots get

Posted 26/05/04 01:05 PM Share Posted 26/05/04 01:05 PM I have a slight lead foot, actually I think it could be a lead leg. Around town and suburbs I averaged 16.5-17lt/100km's, before having the injectors changed. I think its similar now but hard to tell. On the open road or freeways I get 10-11lt/100km's. Hope this helps.Geea.

(Just exploring the performace of it!) After a hard run through the Adelaide hills today by the time I got home economy was 16.2 but I have had that down to the high 13s by taking it easy.
