I think you will find maybe ONE person who has one. They are not required. One of our more knowledgeable members will explain why.

They are for dark ages Jap turbos running on older tech.

I have one running in my car, however as the guys have mentioned it is not required.

The only reason I have one in mine is:

a) It was given to me as a bday present

b) I dont like turning my car off whilst the turbo is glowing (ie, after a squirt). Rather then sitting in my car waiting, I can lock it up and leave it on TT.

I heard that even with a heavily modified R34 GTR going around track for like 5 to 6 laps, the most it will need is around 30 seconds to cool the car down... so I reckon it is not needed though for the car... if you do go to the track, 30 seconds are nothing, just to cool the car down with the hood up! :)

With the timer, I reckon it increases the risk of the car being stolen though... (I might be wrong here)

cheers,

richie

The last time I checked the road rules it's illegal to do this (if you leave your car), but of course that's your decision.

I've never had one, but recommend a cool down idle (or cool down drive) after any hard driving... especially if the exhaust is glowing red.
