These use coolant from the engine to act as a heat sink after engine shutdown, preventing the oil from coking. The water lines utilize a thermal siphon effect to reduce the peak heat soak-back temperature after key-off. The layout of the pipes should minimize peaks and troughs with the (cool) water inlet on the low side. To help this along, it is advantageous to tilt the turbocharger about 25° about the axis of shaft rotation. So there it is from Garrett direct. It's not for you to read mate it is for anyone else who questioned thermo-siphon on Garrett turbos.

I do totally agree with you, skyline use of turbo timer was due to its poor ceramic exhaust wheel design more so. I believe the 7M has the same make up with ceramic wheel also CT12 hence the hiflow was a good option along with a 1JZ lolI know the subies had VF12s an they had no probs running 20psi from stock that's pretty good for a turbo from 89.So using the thermo stuff is meant to prevent the heat soak peak that usually got for the first 15min inside the turbo? Fitting one to an XR6T is a joke. The evidence is abundant.

Member 692 Member For: 17y 10m 22d Gender: Male Location: Newcastle Posted 20/03/08 04:52 AM Share Posted 20/03/08 04:52 AM so the 4 pages of this topic have made no sense to you? The facts have been put threw, theres no denying the facts. You dont NEED one in the xr6t's, as matter of fact, if you have time on your hands you dont NEED a tt on any car. But if you already have one why sell it?This thread may aswell have been left closed. There is some useful information in this thread and yet nobody reads it and actually absorbs it, more just read it and think meh im just changing my opinion even though im wrong. You can go on about thermosyphon stuff all you want, fact still remains that you cant drive your car, turn it straight off and expect this wonderful, amazing thermosyphon to keep your turbo in good nick, pfft try if you want to, your problem for being ignorent
