This topic is hotly debated around here mate, do some searching through the Electrics sub-forum and you will find every argument both for and against the use of a turbo timer in the XR6T. Ultimately, if you want to run it, get it installed by a professional auto electrician who has experience with both the XR and the Blitz timer.

You will have to make up your own mind here though!

**Hi all. Been a member for a while, though first personal thread. Thanks to all for the amazing info I've absorbed from this site to date**

Now, I have an FG F6 and wondering if anyone else has concerns of the optimal time to allow the engine to cool after a good thrash.

I always drive very quiet in the last 2 mins or so prior to garaging and let the engine idle for about a minute before shutting off. I find that this almost always prevents the thermo fans from kicking in after I cut the ignition, so must being doing some good.

How do you guys cool your machines - if at all?

Does anyone run a turbo timer, is there such an animal for new Fords?

Thanks!

already looked but the search results on this are rubbish - 99% threads and posts are irrelevant. I thought it was a fair question...

You've answered your own question regarding turbo timer on these cars, and it also highlights the reason why we dont like having multiple threads covering the same topic.

ive noticed with my fg2 turbo after I turn it off the cooling fans run on for anything up to 90-120secs. would a turbo timer help with cooling the engine quicker without doing any damage. I've noticed it mainly in the last couple of months when the weather up here in FNQ it quite hot and humid. doesn't always do it after a squirt. sort of random every now and then.

thanks

:stupid:

Engine temp is of no real concern, it's the turbo that you need to worry about.

If you drive your car like you stole it right up to the point of shutting it down then a timer would probably be a good idea, but provided you either drive sedately for the last couple of minutes or let it idle briefly after you pull up then it's a waste of time.

Do a search on here if you want to find some passionate debate on the topic.

Nice mining BTW!
