I have actually driven a few BAs - both manual and auto.

My XF manual ute is quicker than any BA I've driven (by a long way), but then it has had a lot of money thrown at it AND it is a good 300kg lighter.

My TE50 is also a manual and is quicker than any standard T6 (auto or manual) so I do have the driving experience to make the BOLD statement that I did.

PS The ute is also quicker than the TE50 except on takeoff - from 40kph onwards the ute just shows it's @rse to the T3.

Mines bigger than your.....yours bigger than mine...ppptttfff :spoton:

Nothing to do with whose is bigger than whose ... where did you get yourself confused?

WOW, that rhymes! ... :spoton:

Simple fact is that, all other things being equal, a properly driven manual will be quicker than a properly driven auto PERIOD. The testers, some of whom CAN drive, have proven this over and over.

All the other furfies being added to the thread are just that ... FURFIES. So ignore them. I do. I was just adding some more furfies for those who didn't think there were enough going around already. :spoton::glad:

Yep, I quess it must be true 'cos everyone here (well, almost) is saying so ...

What are they saying do I hear you ask?

Well, they are saying that if you can't drive properly then the auto is quicker ...

Luckily for me I can drive so I know that the auto driver (of an unmodded T) is NOT going to keep up with me.

:crybaby::blush:

you must be a great driver to say that your car (wich is half the weight and has twice the boost of a standard ba turbo) is alot quicker that's a beauty.

ok I will race you in my nc fairlane 6cl turbo AUTO and see who wins.

I think you will find the lack of manuals posting quick times is because most of the modded cars are auto as it is only recently Manuals were proven tougher. Auto's are also better for lazy racing "drags" as all you need to do is pull up and wait for the green light then floor it

I am sure that any manual v the same spec auto with a good driver, will win as they have better control of the takeoff. I can launch my car on full boost with none, little or alot of wheelspin. Auto's seem to be pot luck when you wind it up on the stall and then lift off the brake.

I guess I am just a control freak :crybaby:

havent played with the auto yet but will be looking for a conversion to a better auto soon as its only 7 weeks old...... good luck in choosing

Mate , if you have any hints for an Auto upgrade I am all ears. Have had the APS upgrade , which is perfectly fine for what it is , but I am looking for something that will handle the modded power in the long term. The stock auto just aint built to take it

Hey Julian, I'm real happy with my auto mods. The auto is coping with the power no problems.

I know that Tony (Worpor W.A.), has been in touch with the people that did it and he said they were willing to share the info with his auto bloke. It could be an option to get your auto bloke to give them a ring and see what he thinks. This may solve your auto concerns.

that sounds great what did you pay and have you change converter? I am getting an engineer to modify a C4 auto to fit. I dont care the cost I just dont want a cheap fix for now. I would like to do it once and not have to worry about the box again. my drag car has 700 hp and the C4 loves it that's why I was thinking that way....I want my ba to run 10s or better. how is your diff handling?

The auto upgrade cost $1690 and is doing great. The diff seems fine so far. I think there are alot more powerful "T's" out there than mine and I dont believe that there is any problems with the diffs yet.

How will the C4 affect drivability and will the BA computer be able to work with it ?

xlr8ed> You didn't read much of what I said did you? Geez I love getting you guys wound up

ms700> We all knew it would right from the start eh? Just a mater of time ...

xr6ikness> You're right, I remember that now. I stand corrected. That must be a freak car Matt has - most autos are getting around 14.3 in standard form and manuals 14.1 or thereabouts. Good for him though

And for everyone who thinks my (off the topic) comments were serious you guys should really lighten up a little ...
