Looks like the majority rules.....AUTO ARE QUICKER :spoton:

as tested by Wheels for 1/4 mile times:

auto XR6T = 14.5 - 14.6

manual XR6T = 14.1 - 14.3

I rest my case.

Dave you want to believe a book...that's your call, l believe what happens on the track

Mines an auto but I do love a good manual.

Just remember, with a manual, you do run a high risk of getting the NCO of driveline shunt/lurch/bang/jerk.

Find a good dealer who will give you an extended test drive, particularly in some peak hour stop/start traffic.

Good luck and dont pay too much attention if the opinions get a little heated. These cars are so damned good that everyone reckons they have the best. You will to.

Maybe if you checked the actual times guys on this site are getting on the track, you'll realise that magazine articles' test results are not the be all and end all of an argument. The best 1/4 mile times in like prepared vehicles I've seen with XR6T's, has been with auto's.

At the end of the day, it comes down to what you really prefer.

I just think the auto is a better package (as supplied by Ford)

Both have limitations if modifying the T, but at the end of the day, the auto WILL be quicker over the standing quarter mile!

Yep, I quess it must be true 'cos everyone here (well, almost) is saying so ...

What are they saying do I hear you ask?

Well, they are saying that if you can't drive properly then the auto is quicker ...

Luckily for me I can drive so I know that the auto driver (of an unmodded T) is NOT going to keep up with me.

havent played with the auto yet but will be looking for a conversion to a better auto soon as its only 7 weeks old...... good luck in choosing

Mate , if you have any hints for an Auto upgrade I am all ears. Have had the APS upgrade , which is perfectly fine for what it is , but I am looking for something that will handle the modded power in the long term. The stock auto just aint built to take it

Hey Julian, I'm real happy with my auto mods. The auto is coping with the power no problems.

I know that Tony (Worpor W.A.), has been in touch with the people that did it and he said they were willing to share the info with his auto bloke. It could be an option to get your auto bloke to give them a ring and see what he thinks. This may solve your auto concerns.

Geea.

have to agree with whitetree,

Um especially when your avatar states you drive an xfturbo we are talking about Ba xr6 turbos.Dont want to be rude but I beleive you would be more qualified if you actually owned one.ps there are alot of people that drive manuals that think they are good at driving them not saying you are and not saying your not.

I have actually driven a few BAs - both manual and auto.

My XF manual ute is quicker than any BA I've driven (by a long way), but then it has had a lot of money thrown at it AND it is a good 300kg lighter.

My TE50 is also a manual and is quicker than any standard T6 (auto or manual) so I do have the driving experience to make the BOLD statement that I did.

PS The ute is also quicker than the TE50 except on takeoff - from 40kph onwards the ute just shows it's @rse to the T3.
