Guest Scootre Guests Posted 21/05/04 09:35 AM Share Posted 21/05/04 09:35 AM On top of the clink-clink noise when I move off in reverse (see my other thread)...I'm getting a strange hopping as I drive off in first, using SSS mode. This only happens if I come to a stop and allow the transmission to pop itself into first - like at a set of lights. Then as I accelerate off, smoothly, the car feels like its having trouble engaging first and I detect a slight skipping / hopping as I move off. Like a hop-hop-hop. Very slight but there. And only in SSS mode.Any ideas about this one guys? Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/10870-and-another-transmission-problem/ Share on other sites

That fixed a few frustrating nasties.Hope this is not the case Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/10870-and-another-transmission-problem/#findComment-125041 Share on other sites
Dr Z Member 378 Member For: 21y 2m 11d Posted 21/05/04 11:17 AM Share Posted 21/05/04 11:17 AM Scootre, just to add another perspective, I experienced the exact same situation in my BA Fairmont Ghia, just so you know that it is not peculiar to the XR6T. My fix was I stopped using SSS like that, and the problem disappeared, though I am not sure that is particularly helpful to you. Safe and happy driving...Dr Z. Guest Scootre Guests Posted 22/05/04 02:34 AM Share Posted 22/05/04 02:34 AM (edited) Well, I noticed it today using normal 4 speed auto so I think it's getting worse. And the clink-clink I mentioned the other day... that's now a lot louder.Fortunately the clink noise only happens in reverse. So it's not competing for my attention over the rattle in the a-column that I've had since day one. Not happy Jan. I had a clink tapping noise coming from my auto after some spirited driving the previuos night, (sat). Showed JB and Blown BA the next day, (sun). Took the car to Ford, (mon). Service manager and BTR engineer look at car, (tue). New auto box in car and Geea happy, (wed). that's what I call great service, (thanks NewOak Ford).Geea.
