Over the last 15,000kms trip computer says 11.3 L/100kms.

Manual calculation says it's at 10.8 L/100kms.

Mostly country miles. I'm happy with that.

Mightily impressed by those with the 16~20 L/100kms numbers!

You's must have deep pockets, and drive with a real heavy foot all the time! Surely a meeting with Mr Policeman would figure high on probabilities!?!

Not really, all you got to do is hang on the gears instead of short shifting before the turbo spools. Hitting 70kmh in 2nd gear and only shifting to 3rd will do it. Not using 5th before 70km will also do it.

mine normally gets 15-17l/100

Got it back from the tuners the other day it was on 37l/100

Put it in for a dealer service and once the apprentice has finished taking it for a thrash, sorry test drive, that will also push up your long term average L/100km economy!

speaking of dealership service centres thrashing cars, I go to melbourne uni, of which the city ford service centre is right behind our ICT building and I REGULARILY see fords being caned through corners and down the street (which is relatively quiet.

today, I saw an XR8 ute being caned down the road, wheelspinning thru a gearchange. I tried to see who was driving, and I don't think it was the owner...

sorry if this is a little off topic...I just get really cut when I see this happening since our ford is serviced there.

Very interesting looking at the large variences on here...

I usually get around the 14's in the city and 10 on the highway - and the only time I drive like grandpa is when it is cold or when stuck behind some moron. This is with only about 6k on the clock.

I have noticed one thing though, there is quite a difference in economy between 105km/h and 115km/h, I think the best is around the 85 km/h mark (roadworks to thank for that discovery)

Trent.

We'll I must be the only unlucky one.

Mine was sitting on 19.1L per 100km I went inside whilst letting it warm up, I came back it was sitting on 20.5L per 100km.. :spoton:

I think I'm going mad :ermm:

Around town on 98RON I get 9.5L/100km and on a highway cruise its 7l/100Km.

So the pintara IS better at something!

There is a huge difference in average economy though!!! Maybe its related to the Gentle/Flogged running in process?

Flogged mine during running in & periodically still am after 30,000kms. Take it to somewhere between 4000 & 5500rpm through 1st to 3rd & to about 3500rpm in 4th atleast twice EVERY 50kms.

At other times I'm shifting at about 3000rpm with only about 2~3psi boost (max boost is 8.5 with spikes to 9).

Once every second tankfull take the car hard through the gears to just over 200km/**.

So, my 'economy' mentioned above is pretty damn good I reckon!

Reckon that there may be something in this. It is surely reflected in the rwkw dyno results for those who thrash vs those who nurse their rides.
