I'm happy with that.Mightily impressed by those with the 16~20 L/100kms numbers! You's must have deep pockets, and drive with a real heavy foot all the time! Surely a meeting with Mr Policeman would figure high on probabilities!?! Not really, all you got to do is hang on the gears instead of short shifting before the turbo spools. Hitting 70kmh in 2nd gear and only shifting to 3rd will do it. Not using 5th before 70km will also do it.

Guest den_iel Guests Posted 24/05/04 10:51 AM Share Posted 24/05/04 10:51 AM I'm getting around 17L/100k's, 90% city driving...and that's trying to be conservative in an N/A...how do u guys get 13L/100k's!?
Guest den_iel Guests Posted 24/05/04 10:56 AM Share Posted 24/05/04 10:56 AM mine normally gets 15-17l/100Got it back from the tuners the other day it was on 37l/100Put it in for a dealer service and once the apprentice has finished taking it for a thrash, sorry test drive, that will also push up your long term average L/100km economy! speaking of dealership service centres thrashing cars, I go to melbourne uni, of which the city ford service centre is right behind our ICT building and I REGULARILY see fords being caned through corners and down the street (which is relatively quiet.today, I saw an XR8 ute being caned down the road, wheelspinning thru a gearchange. I tried to see who was driving, and I don't think it was the owner...sorry if this is a little off topic...I just get really cut when I see this happening since our ford is serviced there. This is with only about 6k on the clock.I have noticed one thing though, there is quite a difference in economy between 105km/h and 115km/h, I think the best is around the 85 km/h mark (roadworks to thank for that discovery)Trent. There is a huge difference in average economy though!!! Maybe its related to the Gentle/Flogged running in process?
Guest 56Mainline Guests Posted 31/05/04 10:28 AM Share Posted 31/05/04 10:28 AM Flogged mine during running in & periodically still am after 30,000kms. Take it to somewhere between 4000 & 5500rpm through 1st to 3rd & to about 3500rpm in 4th atleast twice EVERY 50kms.At other times I'm shifting at about 3000rpm with only about 2~3psi boost (max boost is 8.5 with spikes to 9).Once every second tankfull take the car hard through the gears to just over 200km/**.So, my 'economy' mentioned above is pretty damn good I reckon! There is a huge difference in average economy though!!! Maybe its related to the Gentle/Flogged running in process?Reckon that there may be something in this. It is surely reflected in the rwkw dyno results for those who thrash vs those who nurse their rides.
