Guest den_iel Guests Posted 20/05/04 09:16 AM Share Posted 20/05/04 09:16 AM when I drive at above 80kph, the car shudders through the steering wheel and seats. I got new tyres 1 1/2 weeks ago, and thought it may be the balance. so I took it back to the tyre store, re-balanced it, and they said it also could be to do with the rear suspension bouncing or something, which they claim is an inherent Ford problem. I haven't read anything about this fault, would anyone know anymore?thanks guysif it helps, the tyres are Dunlop SP Sport 3000A Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/10855-rear-suspension/ Share on other sites

The second place checked his rims, none of the wheel nuts were done up more than hand tightened! Oops. (I realise this isn't your problem den_iel! Just a story to show how good some "professionals" are.) Me too, but its fcukn funny  Like yours too, but for a different reason Den_iel, l wonder if you have got a crap set of tyres. It might pay to PM Zeke and ask him about his experiences with this, l know he has had problems in the past. Not uncommon with the Dunlop SP3000s l have heard. Guest rabbit Guests Posted 20/05/04 11:09 PM Share Posted 20/05/04 11:09 PM I've got the same shudder at freeway speed (110kmh). Could it be due to the tailshaft not balanced properly? If its not the balance, it could be a tyre out of round or a buckled rim. Vibrations were primarily when accelerating through 100ks in any gear, and when under very light load to backing off at 80ks Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/10855-rear-suspension/#findComment-126176 Share on other sites

Did you get it fixed???Question 1.. Was it there before they replaced the tyres.. Yes/ NoIf yes then take it to a Pedders and fork out $14 for a suspension check..If no.. Take it to another tyre place for a second opinion.. Something is NOT right...Could be the tail shaft balance but you would also hear the vibration druming in the cabin (weel it did with mine!!) So this is unlikely.. Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/10855-rear-suspension/#findComment-126217 Share on other sites
Guest den_iel Guests Posted 24/05/04 12:49 PM Share Posted 24/05/04 12:49 PM q1. it wasn't like that before the new tyres were put onI had them rebalanced and everything seems to be ok now. I think that they just didn't do a good job the first time around with the balance.I'll update again if anything goes wrong with the tail end...thanks all for your insight!
