G'day all,

After a long hiatus from the website, I have got good news.

For those of you with Stereo input whine, and or Auxilliary noise, Ford Australia finally fixed my car on Monday 17th May 2004.

Whilst I cannot tell you precisely what was done to my car at this time as I am waiting for a letter from the regional support manager detailing what was done. I can tell you that the problem was resolved by updating the earth routing for the earths.

I was verbally informed that instead of individual earths for seperate components the Engineer's flown to Sydney from Melbourne combined the earths for the seperate components to descrease the inductance noise the different earths were providing.

The proof is in the pudding, and on a RTA (big digital noise thing) the output noise with 5 different Auxillary items is now equal with the CD output at -72dbA.

I still don't believe that the system is as good as it could be (my home cinema equipment is rated at -102 S/n but comparitively the whine is no longer evident unless you turn the system way up to 40 and pause the device or the CD player, which is obviously not how anyone would listen to it.

I have been informed that the changes made to my car will become a production change, and that my "modified" earth points and soldered hard circuit board will be replaced at a latter date with the updated item.

As soon as I get further information I will post it here so that anyone here with the problem may get it fixed

I also must say the following,

Ford Australia did agree to replace my brake pads front and rear for free (after my little brakes locked on effort back in April) so thank you for that. 85% worn on the back :w00t2: 17500 km! but nice new pads now!

All the rattles and loose garbage in the car reattached and reassembled, Reflashed the ECU after everything (and I mean everything was reset) at some stage during repairs.

Most of all I must thank my dealer, whilst the relationship between me and Ford hasn't been the best, I do understand that the dealer can only do what Ford allows them to do, and my dealer wished to do things that Ford would not permit!

Whilst I am still not 100% happy with the whole global experience of buying owning and maintaining my XR6Turbo, at least things are on an upturn now :w00t2: I surely couldn't have big problems again, I've already had pretty much all of them :w00t2:

Now wher'd I put that large piece of tree!

Yeah Ivan, I probably am, I can't afford to drop 20k on the car.....

Cost me 60k with all the stuff on it bar Sat nav and DVD, but dealers only pay basic model trade in, 38 k! :-O I nearly :w00t2: ........

So Hello APS / Nizpro / ETC Stage III, Im coming your way after tax time :-)

Brian's Mods look pretty damn good to me! Phase III Passions Mods do too!

Decisions Decisions!

Is it possible that my new pads and rotors (premium) will be useable for someone else after I go for a brand new huge set of brakes?

:w00t2:

Cameron , good to hear that ya T is back and in better working order.

I really think that whichever way you go with your mods , it really will transform your beast in terms of performance and driveability. I would stick with what you can find on this site and make an inforrmed decision :spoton:
