I would be amazed if it is the diff, as I spoke to a supplier of diff components last week who indicated that there were over 1000 on backorder! I will stand corrected if anyone knows anything different.Maybe this quantity alone has made ford stand up and listen, finally! I do find it hard to believe that it will be the diff as most dealers still do not acknowledge there is a problem, 'and it's all within it's limits'. There are probably half a dozen fixes that ford need to come up with, no doubt being the smallest and cheapest one first.I will however not hold my breath as I still wait on my 3rd diff in 16,000k's. This one I am now up to approx 5 weeks.Sorry for my negativity but as you can imagine I have had my fair share of problems, and am sick of not being able to enjoy my car to the fullest. :banghead:

They called and asked if I can bring my car in for someone to have a look at it... went in and to my surprise I got none of that "that's normal crap".... My car is now getting a new transmission (thanks to my dealer) my loss of power problem is getting fixed next week (again thanks to my dealer) they are going to find the cause of the black clutch fluid and fix it.... and wait for it................................... yes......... they said that there is something underway for the diff clunk ....... the replacement transmission could well lessen the shunt which would be fantastic until the fix comes through.the feeling I got when I left the dealer was fantastic..... for the first time I can really say Thank you ford .... still have to drive the car the way it is for a few weeks but there is definate light at the end of the tunnel. Jetute... hope it works out for you mate I really do.Not sure if your problem is identical to mine which is "backlash clunk" . I do not want to dampen your enthusiasm but I am on my third transmission and the clunk got worse. The transmission was replaced due to flaring though, not clunk.JIMBO>

I had similiar problems with a VL a while back and it seemed to adapt to my driving and gradually went away, could be lateral thinking.Seems to be a case of engineering v budget, we all want Ferrari performance at Falcon value. The basics would be nice but having owned a few budget performance cars I have learnt that there is a payoff to achieve what we all want, "power"!Sorry to spoil the party but I would be happy to contribute to any formal approach to highlight the issues to Ford. CheersI can see myself been next on the diff whine having posted this!

I know this doesn't make it right, but acceptance can avert insanity. I believe the reason Ford and/or their component suppliers havn't fixed the problem is simply this . THEY CAN'T. Beyond wishful thinking and the Govt artifically patting us on the back around election time when you look at the quality of most stuff made in this great land of ours IT'S CRAP by international standards, sure we've had our moments but they are extremely few and far between. "She'll Be Right Mate" and "Near Enough Is Good Enough" are 2 mindsets still firmly entrenched in the Aus psyche. But on a positive note, aside from the noisy back ends these machines are still great cars.My GT has too many noises in the bum for a $70000 car so for the exercise count me in

"She'll Be Right Mate" and "Near Enough Is Good Enough" are 2 mindsets still firmly entrenched in the Aus psyche. But on a positive note, aside from the noisy back ends these machines are still great cars.My GT has too many noises in the bum for a $70000 car so for the exercise count me in I agree it is a Ford thing. How you accept to many noises for a $70000 car is beyond me, I wish I was that tolerant but then again if it saves you going insane . Whats happens when you try to sell it and the potential buyer asks what the noises are and you say 'you get that with a Ford'...yeh right..see you later. I thinks this is one of the major concerns for owners who have this problem. Ford's appararent lack of concern and acceptance of this problem in the majority of cases is what is really hurts. Also it DOES hurt their sales. I for one would find it extremely hard to purchase a Ford again and have already talked 2 people out of buying one. I disagree it will never go away, if we make enough noise they will have to investigate it and rectify it . We are also trying to show " "Near Enough Is NOT Good Enough" we want to be proud of our Aussie cars.I believe, from reading posts on this site, and the actions of the people here Ford are looking into it and hopefully series 2 will not have this problem.
