 Hey dain, do you want the Truth? "You Can't Handle The Truth"!

Mate read the 520 odd posts on this exact question. I currently have on order diff no 4, I wish I had now left the original one in there. Car has done 28,000k, each one has been worse than the other. This next one is meant to be an upgraded one, we will see how it goes.

Personally if it's clunking, live with it, if it's whinging, is it reallly that bad? And is it getting worse as the k's tick over? If the answer is that the issue is minor I would leave it, but have it logged by 13 Ford and your dealer as a pending issue and see how it goes with a few more thousand k's on it.

Otherwise enjoy the journey as Ford still are not ofiicially acknowledging that it is a common issue, they are dealing with each one, on an individual basis.

Oh and BTW, I still enjoy driving my T

Thankfully no clink here (auto), but I did have the whine.

Forgot to report it at the 45k service. Told the Service Dept at 60k service, which they happily acknowledged and said they'd rebuild the diff as replacement diffs were only offered to cars before they clocked over 50k. Fine by me as I reckon the job would be done better as they'd have a good look over it, rather than slapping it together on an assembly line. Parts were ordered and showed up for the 75k service. Another 5k later and she's still nice and quiet. Maybe a rebuild job may solve a few of the problems that replacements aren't?

Interesting Rod as 13ford called me yesterday to tell me that they are still waiting on Dana to suplly one that does not whine. His word's were the ratio of good diffs coming off the line were 1 on 10! :gooff: Hence mine which I have been waiting for approx 3 months will still be a few weeks away.

Mate good luck and will be happy to here what you have to say once installed. :spoton:

JB, had the diff replaced this afternoon. When I picked up the vehicle the service adviser assured me that the diff was one of the revised Dana units, I"ll let you know how it goes over the next couple of days

Funny...haha..

I read motoring magazines and also wheels test of the car before I purchased.. I also talked to 2 owners and all said exactly the same thing... Diff / driveline noise in the manual.. All parties where concerned how the vehcle would sound after 80,00k's... Fortunately several vehicle have passed that mark and are still going strong.. I knew about the noisey driveline I nthe manual T and still purchased knowing exactly what it would sond like (they compared it to a 1980's muscle car) and really I am still happy with what I got.. Rememeber this car is in evolution stage and improvements will be made... Howver if you want what they got on offer now... Pay the money.. Drive the b**ch and enjoy... If I have gone over any ground already covered I will admit I havent read the other 200 posts.... Only the first whinge... If you bought the car without any research then I say suffer.. If you cant handle driveline noise trade it on a fairmont.... or turn the sterio up.... WHat do you think you get for 40 grand these days....

I guess that if every single manual had the clunk there would be nothing to complain about.... why should you or any1 else have to have clunk when there are manual owners out there that dont have it??? is their forty grand somehow more valuable then yours and hence they deserve a better product??/ and before you say they all have it, I can guarantee you they dont. If you doubt this I can organise a forum member here to take you for a drive in a non clunking manual!!! And guess what, he did not have to pay any extra to have a non clunker, should you have to??

sux dont it??

The Manual I drove was 67km's and it had clunk.. I paid the money and knew there was a fair chance of clunk....The motoring (wheels/ motor) magazines was <1500km's and it had clunk.. My driving technique has eliminated the clunk..... The lucky ones dont have clunk but probably will oneday.... You make it sound like you are stuck with these things foreva.... Dont like it.. Cut your losses and by a typhoon ( Minus the clunk of course).. Cars are unfortunatly disposable... Comodities of an open international market.. Just like pork ribs.... If you dont like the pork..... become Jewish..........
