Um 2 weeks, Ford CRC called me last week as they have elevated my problem to higher in the company as I am up for my 4th diff. They told me the Mk2 diffs will be Christmas at this stage, hence they said it was pointless changing my diff until the new one came out, so I am just waiting on a phonecall from CRCJust make sure you are not being fed monkeys. Then again I don't know what to believe anymore.

Both diff and gearbox needed to be opened, some components have to be replaced and of course there is then the warranty implications. It could easily turn into a $1500 repair I am beginning to wonder how much the electronic throttle is responsible for the clanking, the reason is that I changed my T/Body up to 80mm and noticed much less tendency to shunting and clanking from the bum, I thought it must be in my mind, but I have now gone back to the 75mm T/Body and straight away the shunting and clanking has got noticably worse, after 5 months with the 80 I can now make a fair comparison, weird perhaps, but true nonetheless I think JB is right. It is the gearbox that clunks. And hypnodoc you hit the nail on the head regarding the Flyby wire throttle. It is like a light switch meaning throttle is either on or off, whereas with the old throttle cable absorbed some slack there which makes it seem like the BA was the start of this issue when it really was there in AU as well. Also if your clutch wears out completely at 40000km it is not because of trying to adjust you driving style to reduce/ get rid of the clunking. I have 20000km now and it still has plenty of feel. Edited 17/09/04 01:00 AM by RATT

Its a foot in the right direction of letting other motorists know the crap we've been putting up with. Also there was an article in Thursdays Telegraph about a review of lemon laws maybe ford will wake up to its problems now before the consumer watchdog has to step in for the customer
RATT Member 230 Member For: 22y 24d Location: Sydney Posted 17/09/04 01:03 AM Share Posted 17/09/04 01:03 AM I have a remedy for the clunk issue,Subaru MY05 STI.Picking it up in 10 days............Ford just lost a customer.I paid 50k for my car in november last year.I asked ford to buy the car back off me. They offered 33,500. Mind you they had one in the yard for 43000, and mine had leather, 18's over and above. You might be in for a rude shock. A fellow member here (ozzyjim) has owner an MY01 WRX which he has now traded and bought a BA XR8, said that his WRX clunked between gear changes as well. He actually thought it was normal. The clunking that you are refering to is actully a bang which occurs when you flat change or change extremely quickly from 1st to second. Its nothing like the XR6T clunking issue.Look forward to running a few of you guys at the lights.
