I just got back from the dealer and they said its.....NORMAL

I did not get mad as the dealer is not to blame, its FoMo and so I will wait for the written report and the phone call from 13FORD CRC department that I have been promised.

Within the next few weeks I will have a driveline engineer inspect the car and give me his opinion. I will then see what the next step is from there.

I may be perdantic about this problem, but in 2004 the engineering of cars should not allow for this type of problem. To claim that a problem is "Normal" is just like an admission that you make a poor quality product and will not admit to the fault.

l spoke with a driveline specialist located in Melbourne last week recommended by Ben (WBT56)

l was told l would have to bring the car in for 3-4 hours so they can run it on their chassis dyno to determine where the problem/s lie and then go back to Mal Wood for a recommendation on what to do and what parts may be required. Cost of diagnosis was $75/hr, cost of repair....who bloody knows

If you get a report from a driveline expert saying the driveline is crap and that to fix it will cost $xxxxx, then you can go back to Ford and say that an independent expert believes there is a problem and that you want it fixed. If Ford refuse you have 2 options to fix the problem. Fix it yourself (driveline expert), pay the driveline place and then get Ford to pay the bill....this may require small claims court to get the money.

Or

Go through the department of fair trading and get them to make Ford fix the problem.

Under Consumer law you must give the manufacturer the chance to make good the repairs, so I do suggest you approach Ford to get the job done first before you get the driveline place to fix it.

If the driveline place says they can shim up the diff and fix the problem for a few hundred $$$'s then it may just be easier to pay for it yourself.

Ford just lost a customer.

I paid 50k for my car in november last year.

I asked ford to buy the car back off me. They offered 33,500. Mind you they had one in the yard for 43000, and mine had leather, 18's over and above.

l may do the same thing, truth is l cant really be farked. l would rather just piss it off. If it turns out to be a case of some diff adjustments then l may re-consider, but if we are talking changing over major components then stuff it

I think it is worth the effort as I still love my car and would loose too much money getting out of it.

My car is in again today to have that fantastic diff looked at again.................. :banghead:

Yes it has deteriorated, back to the standard whine and clunking etc. The nice tight feeling that it had lasted 2000kays.

Also they are looking at the gearbox which have had it checked by the manufacturer twice but I honestly believe that the whinging is not normal.

They rang spicers while I was in the office with them (I am presuming they are Dana as well?) I the same story that possibly an upgraded diff will be available within the next month or so, just the usual .

I know I will be having the diff replaced again but the real fight is over the gearbox in which they tell me it's 'normal'. Apparently it uses the 'straight cut gears' from the AU XR8 and that's why we get the whine. What I cannot understand is why it is only in 3rd and the noise is getting progressively louder

I have already made legal inquiries, but the problem is history wise Ford are known to fight tooth and nail to protect themselves, and there actions are to exhaust your time and funds as much as possible to the point where you give up. Tipical large corperation style. I am considering contacting ACA or TT however there would need to be a group of us. I am happy to co-ordinate and if anyone wants to PM me their details I will then collate, contact the shows and provide them with the story and some of the people affected. Anyone interested?
