yes, you will be fed the usual crap from Ford, no doubt!

Things like..

"..yours is not as bad as others they've seen.."

and

"... its just how this type of car is.."

and

"...its under Ford specifications.."

And if your really lucky, they might even put the car up on hoists, show you underneath the car, and feed you more crap, trying to convince you that "everything is ok", when its clearly NOT!

good luck anyway!

I am just about ready to accept what I have. I really think that Ford believe that this is normal, and as previously indicated I honestly believe that this is the standard of Ford's build quality and components. The whole drivetrain issue seems to be a lottery. The only way this will be rectified is a major component change and re-engineering of the the drivetrain, which as we all know is big $$$$.

I have had friends in the industry look at the car (including a mechanic from a well known V8 supercar team) and they all have indicated the same thing. In theory there is nothing mechanically wrong with the car, it comes down to the design of components, construction of parts, assembly, and the ability of them to work smoothly, all as one working unit

Until you can get Ford to admit to a problem, no-one will get anywhere.... I like many others have decided to enjoy what really is a great concept, a great car with poor components and a poorer build quality.

Whilst I do love my T and I still do enjoy driving it for it's ride, power, looks and so on, knowing that it's not how it should be is the thorn in the side.

Whilst I will continue to enjoy it while I have it, I will never purchase a Ford again. :spoton:

My service department have told me that ford do think that this is a problem and that they are trying to get a fix for it. I believe the firts part but not the second. At the same time Ford are obviously trying to shove this problem under the carpet. As long as we believe its normal, everything is ok and ford is happy.. Well I for one am showing everyone my problem and telling them that ford thinks this is normal and will not fix it. Then let the people who have heard it make up their own minds on whether they would like to drive in a car like that. I will now start to mod my car and to enjoy it while I have it. Am getting sick of trying to fix stuff before I can mod it, as otherwise I would be driving a stock T till its time to change cars.

I second the above comment.

In all this I hope everyone is aware that Ford don't actually manufacture the diff and the gearbox. Dana Spicer manufacture the gearbox.

I have the clunk in the v8 XT as well but I have also adapted to driving it so that it doesn't happen at all, and that wasn't hard to do at all.

The fact that Ford dont make the diff or gearbox is l am sure known by all, its one of the reasons Ford give to hide behind a fix. Of course it doesnt diminish Fords responsibility for the problem at all. They set the specs, the price they are willing to pay for a component and the minimum acceptable tolerances.

You're a better driver than me if you can adapt so your car doesnt clunk 100% of the time. l can eliminate it if driving sedatley but during spirited driving its impossible, for me anyway.

If Ford paid a few $$ more for QUALITY parts we would not have this problem.

My car clunks all the time no matter how I drive. :pinch:

It clunks I want it fixed without all the BS Ford

Spirited driving is a different story. General day to day driving after 18000km I have adjusted my driving style and become used to that style. That's in my case anyway.

Understand what you are saying Ratt, I too can minimise the problem by doubling the clutch, however will Ford replace my clutch when it goes earlier than normal purley because of another fault in the car which the clutch has compensated for? Probably not!

I think the point is that you should not have to adjust your driving style to get around a problem, short term yes, long term no. The fact is that the car is not right and should be rectified.

BTW Dana and ford have looked at my car, but at the end of the day it's ford's call as it's their money Ralph! :pinch:

JB I agree on the clutch issue. But what I am trying to say is that I easy the clutch rather than double clutch and let the revs drop 500rpm from the upchange point and there is no clunk. I can also make it sound quite bad by having it in third and going on and off the accelerator too. So to a point it is the way we drive as well.

The best thing to do is to stay on top of it with your Ford dealer and something will be done about it. It will also be interesting to see what happens with the 6 speed as well.
