I suppose Zap is under the presumption that he will get the same response from dealer/Ford, which I believe to be correct. If he does have it properly fixed I will bear my arse in burke st. I have been listing mine as a problem from 3000klms and I am still battling at 17,000klms.Mate I am not having a go either but I believe if he starts it now and gets on board with the group then hopefully his issue will not be dragged out to 17,000klms. I won't know if the new one is better until I pick it up on thursday. If it's not I might be standing there with you when it comes to the diff issue. Adam, I will give you a tip in getting your new diff from what I have learnt/experienced, if it's not too late. Do not let your dealer order it online, all they do is tick a box and a new diff is sent. Request that they personally call the supplier and request a GRADE 9 OR 10 Diff. The diffs are graded 1-10, 10 being that all components and assembly are individually checked by hand. This gives you the best chance of getting the best diff they have to offer!

Start a thread where everyone who has or has had this issue says so and send the details to either magazine. All it would take is to list the threads on both this site and on FF and send them of to the editor and ask them to mention/follow up on the situation. Involving media at the moment may only serve to drive Ford into a corner and not give us the amicable result that I think both parties want.I just got back from the Dealers and the workshop foreman went for a drive and said that it was a noticable problem. He said that they will measure the backlash and then tell Ford and it is up to Ford to approve the repairs. He said that Ford only offer replacement Diffs as a solution and that the dealer cannot fix this problem with 3rd party drivetrain companies. It was funny (not) telling the Service manager today that I have diff shunt. His comment was "that is unbelieveble your car is only 3 days old"The foreman mentioned that the AU's had a clunking problem, but that was fixed with diff oil and some additive.....that's not what I heard from other people here.I did not ask service to fix my car as I want the car to get a few more miles under its belt to see if the problem gets worse. I also will take it to the driveline expert for his opinion.

Guest turbo21 Guests Posted 18/05/04 07:38 AM Share Posted 18/05/04 07:38 AM I believe that we should send a letter to ford, on behalf of the people at FORDXR6TURBO.COM. If we send them an ultimatum, namely, rectifying the problem, and they do not adhere, then it must be made perfectly clear to them that further action will be taken. I should be mentioned that further action will entail making the problem publicluy known via some form of media such as a current affair. I think that ford, presented with such alternatives, will pull their heids in and make a move! If they do not, then rest assured that all the negative publicity will make them pay the costs of problematic new cars!!!

dsan Member 60 Member For: 20y 10m 6d Location: Maitland, NSW Posted 18/05/04 08:51 AM Share Posted 18/05/04 08:51 AM I apologise if this question is a little lame but I just need to know: what exactly is the diff problem? When it comes to cars I'm only a *little* bit better than illiterate and I would really like to know more about the clunk/whine issues. I will (hopefully) be picking up my T in about a month so I need to keep my senses primed for a clunk when I do the test drive.I know this issue is probably better described in another thread but I feel it is important to cover it in this one as well. It would also help in revealing other people who suffer this problem and don't even know it. They will think, "hey, my car does do that! I thought it was normal...".Just my 2 cents... It seems all that's been said lately is talk about how crappy the diff is, and not enough "buy a turbo, I love mine".
