After waiting 8 weeks I took along a mate with an eye for detail to pick up my new T. After checking the car over for 30 minutes we found the following cosmetic problems:

X1 18" wheel dinted under clear coat

X1 18" wheel scatched

Tail light scratched and scuffed including blemish in the chrome strip

Chip and scratch in sill panel

Window tint minor marks and bubble

Plastic next to stereo scratched

Scartch on top of driver rear view mirror

Front bar out of alighnment

Rubber seal under bonnet not glued properly and poorly painted with undercoat exposed.

I have also noticed ripples under both front door handles, has anyone else got this problem as it is uniform on both sides?

The salesman was very apoligetic and brought out the manager who put all the problems in writing and said they would be fixed asap or at 3000k service. He also documented the fact that I will get 2 new 18s.

On a brighter note they failed to notice the fairmont Ghia headlining with front courtesy lights and overhead consol, fairmont ghia boot carpet, XR8 switches and locknuts my mate on the line at FOMOCO slipped in.

I might sound a bit fussy but when you hand over 45K you want the thing right.

Even with the probs I have listed I still love the thing, its a weapon.

Crap for a "new" car. Good work Hawk. Identifying this stuff early and having it in writing should lead to a early speedy resolution, best of luck  Quality control seems to be getting worse not better. Saw an add for a VY2 clubbie 285kw brand new for $51990, with continued sh!t like this from Ford people may be tempted over. Hope not!!!

Good stuff hawk. :spoton:

You did extremely well to spot the blemishes in your new car which in the scheme of things, are fairly minor by Ford standards. The ripples under the door handles are fairly common and are apparently caused on the manaufacturing line, as hard as that is to believe. Hoipefully the dealer will do the right thing.

The little extras installed on the production line are nice!

Good going on noticing all the defects

I was too eager to get in the car and my sales man said write it all down and we'll fix it at 3000kms service.

When it came to the service they refused to fix any of the defects as their was no documented proof.

Don't care anymore though, I've got a few too many scratches and broken bumpers to bother anymore... :)

Yeah I don't think I could be stuffed complaing about scratches and stuff, unless you plan on putitng the car in a museum and never driving it, be prepared for the car to get covered in them.

I am getting a black one, imagine how many marks will show up on that?! But so what, I hate people getting anal about there cars paint not being perfect. What do these people do when they do get a scratch from a stone or something? Have a nervous break down?

Congrats on the extra you scored, top effort?!

I picked up mine yesterday and I took my best mate who is a builder with an incredible eye for detail.

He noticed door out of allignment (I diddnt) and a tiny scratch on the NS rear guard that was buffed out.

The dealer looked very worried as this guy would notice a stone chip at 50m.

Overall the car was body perfect, pitty about the Clunk option I diddnt tick, but got.
