Currently driving a pulsar SSS and just purchased a vx ute with the fiance (her car) Wanted to by a STI but after the xr6t beat it in a recent RACQ comparison, I checked it out and it got the nod. Looks like the $3000 off the price of a new holden (thanks to the Expensive Daewoo credit card) can get stuffed.

p.s. The build quality of the vx ute is terrible.

l am afraid l am a bit of a swinger with no strong allegiance to any one brand. l like Aussie made cars mainly because of their value but also because l am patriotic to a degree.

If Holdens next model is better than the XR6T then it will be our next car. If the all new Magna is a pearler then it will be a Mitsubishi. If your spending $50k+ then you want the best combo of performance/value/quality and resale you can get at the time reagrdless of if you are a Expensive Daewoo man or whatever. At the moment the XR6T has got it all sewn up!

Pretty much a die hard Ford fan. Wouldn't seriously consider a Commodore (V8) because of the known oil problems and the VYs look yuck. Upgraded from an EB Gli stock 6cyl auto (had 17" mags and lowerd though).

I read all the reviews in the motoring mags and at Fordforums and it sort of went from there. I never really had any serious intentions of buying a BA, let alone an XR6T until one day when my Mum rang up and the conversation turned to the XR6T winning COTY and Mum said "I suppose you are going to buy one?"

"I wish, but would never be able to afford one" I replied.

The seed was planted then and I deliberately went out of my way and went past the local Ford dealer on the way home from work and fell in love with a Phanton XR6. I did some figures in my head and worked out I probably could afford one! I rang the bank and put a hypothetical to them and they said yes, so I applied for the loan and the rest is history! Except that when I went to the dealer to test drive a Turbo I ended up falling in love with a Venom Red one instead. I'm such a tart!

This relationship was on rocky ground the other day when I walked into the dealer and they had a Phantom XR8 sitting in the showroom. She was teasing me with her bulge, and flashing her leather trim at me and whispering sweet nothings in my ear through her Premium Sound system all the while showing off her magnificent 18" alloys. I was almost at breaking point. I manged to drag myself out of the dealer without being seduced, but only just. I'm dreading tomorrow when I have to visit the dealer again, I don't know how much more of this I can take. It's so hard trying to keep my feelings for this *other woman* from my current ride, if she found out she would be sure to go Congo Green or Citric Acid with jealousy!

Yep.. wouldn't even consider a ford... walked past the ford stand at the motor show to sign up for a holden.... drove a sv8 and a new ss... underwhelmed to say the least. A neighbour begged me to drive a ford before I bought, so I did to humour him...... after a minute of driving the demo XR6T, the wife and I looked at each other and said.... YEP.. so here I am !!!!!!!!!!

Actually, if you think about it, the lower the percentage for die-hard Ford fans the better  Let me explan. The major problem for Ford as a business in recent years has been the major gap in sales between itself and Holden (and some others). So, if Ford brings out a new model, what is going to make a bigger difference to that situation: (1) the same old people buying the car regardless (because they are a die-hard fan) or (2) people switching over from Holden (even the die-hards) and other models, because they are truly impressed with the vehicle and think it is the best going around (price, quality whatever)? Should be obvious: the more in group 2, the better for Ford.

Looking at the votes so far (we have 600+ members here, how about a few more voters!!), Ford would be comforted by the fact that a good number of people have elected change their minds

I ordered mine in october. I was going to buy a bmw, but got talked out of it by my old man. I was more of a euro car person, but I was brought up on fords xa xD xe 351's. ive always liked fords and would never consider a Expensive Daewoo no matter how much better it was.

Why wouldn't you consider a Expensive Daewoo if it was streets ahead of the equivalent Ford. Loyalty is one thing but stupidity is another. I can just imagine how much you looked forward to buying a XF or EA 6 cylinder Fairmont Ghia instead of a Brock VL Group A in 1986 or a Walkinshaw VL around 1988!
