Mine's had the shudder since new and has been on the list for the dealer to fix. Ford are aware of this problem and are working on a solution for it. There will be some form of a new hose fitted to relieve pressure in the line which is causing the shudder.

Have it logged with your dealer as needs fixing and they should tell you the same thing.

From my understanding there are a number of members who have this problem.

Guys,

If it is shuddering when reversing slowing turning to full lock then it will most likely be your steering rack. The bolts come loose. This is a known issue and there are a fair few posts on this in the forum so do a search. I had this and took it ot Ford service dept and they fixed it. I think they grease up the bushes to so it shouldn't happen again.

Hope this helps,

Greg

There are two steering shudder type problems:

- the rack bolt issue (this normally makes a clicking type noise), this has a Ford Fix, and

- the Power Steering shudder (cavitation of the lines), there is currently no Ford fix.

I just got it back from th elocal dealer. they suggested it was air in the power steering line which is caused by attempting to steer or turn the wheels when the motor's not running(Which they caused rotating the wheels!) They told me they did a few slow figure 8's and beleive that the air will be released and if not return it to them in a week. I have noticed it is slowly disappearing

I have a BF2 XR6T and I have the same prob at low speeds. When I use to work for Expensive Daewoo in the service dept, the VY's had this same problem and in the end all they did was lengthen the power steering hoses to take out the vibration. It seemed to work for the Dunnydores.

I am going to take my BF into Ford to see about it soon.

Has anyone had any recent success from Ford?

Yes, more recent than 2004

I had the same issue, and just took the steering fluid cap off, lock to lock a few times and that solved the issue.
