I'll sign. I haven't reported the problem to a dealer yet, but my diff just about drowns out anyone speaking in the rear of my Auto T. It's getting worse very quickly, has become twice as noisy in the pastt 5000k. It also gets noisier the warmer it gets.

I purchased my T second hand and the previous owner told me he had the diff changed not long before I purchased the car, so now it need its second one but I want one that's not going to have to be changed again - ever. If taxis can go 600000k without a new diff surely it's not unreasonable to expect a car that costs twice as much to do the same.

Just this past week I have noticed an intermittent clunk which I guess it also coming from the diff.

Reading all the other posts on this subject proves that Ford have a serious issue that needs urgent attention and if signing a peition brings action I'll gladly sign.

Question for BCL and other people with hi-po manuals- how are you finding the clunking??

Mine does have some, but based on some of the descriptions around (and people changing diffs!) I don't think mine is too bad.

hmmm

When I change gears (sometimes) it sounds like there are a couple of AFL footy players in the boot kicking drop punts around !! Fark that! We have our 3,000 K service coming up so I can find out whether my Ford will be as friendly as the day we bought the car..

I will sign the partition as well.

P.S, there is a good reaon that when WHEELS car mag took an XR6T over to Europe to guage their reaction, that the head of Ford Aus said that under no circumstances where they to take a manual. Another funny thing was that it HAD to have the Premium brakes installed?? I can't imagine why.....

Tock.

Geez, there's a lot of unhappy punters out there with diff whine, driveline shunt, brake shudder etc.

Perhaps our next cruise should be to the Ford factory in Broadmeadows. Have a little BBQ on their lawn next to the Hume Highway. 30 or more cars with Lemon stickers might drawn their attention to our plight and they might take a bit more notice.

An invite to "A Current Affair" or "today Tonight" might not go astray either.

I think this lack of refinement is considered normal considering the price segment that the car is in.

If you want something as smooth as a babys ass I think youll need to look in the BMW/Audi/Mercedes direction.

This being said, it would be nice if Ford cleaned up their act and started fitting something of slightly higher quality and better tolerances in the driveline department, even if this costs a couple of grand more.
