Guys,

Pls make sure if you buy ANY of the +50's etc that you get a receipt and an OK to rtn them if you're not happy. The advantge is very much perceived. If you doubt this ask your mate to tell you which side has the +50 and see if anyone can see any difference.

I have so many people calling me and saying they are a waste of time and $$ which are difficult to rtn due to the blister type packaging.

Autoweb I think it was in the UK also tested all these things are came back with the conclusion they are also a waste of time and $$.

The light meter also prove these are nothing more than slightly "brigther" globes to approx (3,400K ours start at 5100K) - and offer very little advantge over std 55W ones.

Caveat emptor!

The depth perception you mention is due to the fact your beams throw further and the light colour is actually white - not creamy yellow as per the very best Halogen can manage.

Simple question -

Who would like to go back to sealed beam tungsten lights?

The point on ADR's is acknowledged - we're working on this and so far it's costs us plenty!

NO doubt about it guys - this sure is an interesting topic and like most topics - everyone is kind of right.

Cheers,

Frank

Guys - we have a test pilot lined up and we will be fitting our product to that car within the next few weeks. We'll make sure we take plenty of pics and then I'll leave the owner alone to write up his indepentant report and review over the following month.

Cheers,

Frank

Why can't you simply put 90watt low beams in and 110watt wigh beams in? Surely the BA lenses are big enough to dissperce the heat? I have 110w in the ED, but only on high beam, they were so bright you coul dlight the road up for 300m in from of you. I fact when ever I had them on, I'd get people flashing me 250m away to turb them off, as if I was right in fron of them!

They were bloody bright and never made my lens' yellow.

Zap is correct regarding the ADRs - the xenon lights are not approved and because they are so dazzling, SORRY BUT THEY ARE!, to oncoming drivers the cops will defect you. Except if you drive a European model which have special dispensation. In fact, all Australian cars can achieve this same dispensation if they choose to follow the European standard to the "T" (sorry for the pun). That means self levelling and washers. So:- Whenever an Australian ADR does not cover any item the releveant European standard can be accepted.

Putting 90 watt or anything over the 55watt standard is also illegal - as are blue painted/tinted globes. 30+ and 50+ globes are legal but as Frank says they are of little benefit - only slightly noticable improvement in light - and they do tend to have a shorter lifespan except for the Phillips variety. In fact, just chuck out your standard Ford/Osram 55/60 watt H4s and put in Phillips 55/60 H4s and you will have a noticable improvement in light brightness.

Back to the Xenons - I have to say that if you are going to use the original reflector and housing then forget the exercise because the problem with the AU/BA lights is not the light output but the light control. Putting xenon or any other brighter globe will not give much benefit because you are still working with poor light control - you will just have brighter bright spots in front of you and the pattern will still be shadowy.

Also I do not like the ultra white light from the Xenons - especially in fog or mist/rain. In Europe it has been clearly demonstrated (by the fact that it is almost standard fitment now) that a more yellow light is easier on the eyes.

Firstlt the outside light assembly on a BA falcon is designed for H4 D

That means low and hgih beam in one globe. The inner globes come on when you flick to high beam.

The question isn't about wattage. Just increasing the wattage will significantly increase the power load on the vehicles wiring as well as load on the alternator.

True Xenon's are 35 watts - the real key is the Lumen or light output - and the colour or K (Kelvin).

Halgoen globes output about 1500 lumens maximum - that's a 100W globe.

Xenon starts at 3,000. Ours are 3200 Lums or twice the light "power."

The increased heat from 90 or 100 watt globes compared to the std ones is considerable.

I would not receommend you do this.

Check the about About Xenon kits on our web site for full details.

Cheers,

Frank

Rednut99 I like your idea!!!

but I have 2 questions!!!

1. I thought you had to upgrade the original headlamp relay so your original wiring/switch didnt burn out!!

Im happy to be proven wrong :gooff:

2. If so can 90W/110W globes be fitted to a BAXR6T with out any modifications!!!!!!!!!If so count me in for 90w/110w big bulbs instead!!!!!

I like the idea of XENON but cant justify the cost!!!! :o

Hey guys:

Remeber this is a discussion about Xeno light kits. Not weather a standard setup with bigger bulbs is better.

I have gone down that trak with my T and failed! I spent 300 or more on seeveral types of globes none of them better than what was standard.

now owning acar with Xeanons is great. They are so bright you can see even on wet conctre!.

We just have to get over all over he ADR stuff just like you do if you put on an APS kit.

I only posted this to see if there was any general interest.

Dallas and Frank sorry to put a negative spin on it and I'm not having a go in anyway but the number one question that keeps swirling round in my head is why the hell would anyone spend 1700 dollars on lights let alone even spending more than 500 bucks.. I find the idea to be absolutely ridiculous.

Before it's asked, Yes I spend about 50% of my driving in the dark on a long lonesome country highway.

Sorry again but I just can not work it out. :k24t:

Dallas> The Xenons in your M5 were designed properly from the start - yes they are good but still very annoying to oncoming drivers - it is a different matter entirely when you start putting xenons in the standard Ford reflector for the reasons I have already stated. IMO retrofitting is not a cost effective option.

I'm sure Trumpy will give us all a good run down on how good they work in a BA in a couple of weeks or so ...

I would not recommend that anyone put the 90/110w H4's into their T's.

You will either melt or damage the plastic headlights or you will melt the wiring.

Think about it. Ford do not over engineer the cars wiring, so a 55/65w stock globe draws 4.6a/5.4amps where the 90/110w draws 7.5a/9.1amps. That is enough for the wiring to melt and or short out the cars lighting system.

I do not know how the Xenon replacements will fit in the original positions. From the units I have seen they are about 300mm long and would stick well into the engine bay. This could cause you problems if your T needs a battery or airfilter.

I have used the Phillips globes in my 16yo Galant and the difference was incredable. I found that white road markers and reflectors further down the road than the stock ones. Having driven a XT BA for the past 2 weeks, I must say the low beam is ok, but the highbeam is the best I have ever had in a standard car.

Drive with the driving lights on as well as lowbeam and you should have enough light and it will dazzle the traffic less than aftermarket Xenon's.
