I cant remember where I read this, so cant quote the info. I'm a little rusty.I thought that the reflector design needed to more tightly control the throw of light with a xenon. Wouldnt this mean that addidng xenon lights to an existing (read Falcon) light housing designed for halogens cause less than optimal light control?Sounds good anyway, and if you need a test pilot let me know! I do lots of miles (50,000km in 15 months) and have already played with several "uprated" halogens trying to improve night vision.

Posted 12/05/04 02:18 AM Share Posted 12/05/04 02:18 AM Thanks for the great information Frank, I'm interested in the upgrade, but like Mondie, I'm not sure if I do enough night driving to justify the cost. (however the cost is good)Mark
Guest XenonOz Guests Posted 12/05/04 02:20 AM Share Posted 12/05/04 02:20 AM Re the question on reflector design. Our globes have the eact focal point of light generation as a std halogen globe. As you can imagine this is absoluely critical to maintaining the light pattern. As for evals / trials - pls call me to discuss how we can do this.Cheers,FrankXenonOz02 4861 3622

Zeke zeke Member 792 Member For: 21y 5m 20d Location: Adelaide Posted 12/05/04 05:12 AM Share Posted 12/05/04 05:12 AM I'm getting very interested in this - sounds good so far! But, one concern is that Australia often looks to other countries in developing standards etc. I'd hate to fit them and then find out a new Aussie standard has come out requiring levellers and washers. Any ideas on how to get around this possibility, Frank? I'm not willing to do anything to my car that isn't 100% legal for reasons that have been discussed to death on another thread. If I can be convinced the Xenons can be installed legally and that they will stay legal even if an Aussie standard does come out, then I reckon I need some yesterday.Re the night-blindness thing, I'm not so sure about your stats - I get more blind more often at night (an occasionally during the day) than Mrs z and this seems par for the course with most of our friends. Guest XenonOz Guests Posted 12/05/04 05:35 AM Share Posted 12/05/04 05:35 AM Guys,I wish I could give gaurantees for future compliance - but I can't.Re the night blindness - thees figures come from the AMA (Aust Medical Assoc) a few years old now - but still relavent I'm told. I'm not going to argue with someone who has 6 medical degrees and is a FRS (Fellow of the Royal Society)Cheers,Frankps. R U aware that by the strict letter of the ADR's - anyone who fits blue globes is breaking the ADR's? True.

Unless these kits come with ADR compliance I do not believe that you can get them passed. If you want better lights get the 50+ Osrams or Phillips ultrabrights, while they are not Xenon they are better than stock and legal. I did know the blue lights were illegal, I also heard the Xenon lights were as well, but they have made a special ruling to allow these cars to use them. It is to do with the temp range of the Xenon and causing a problem with depth perception using these lights. I can remember where I read it, but I do not like the Xenon as they are a weird kind of light, kinda like using a Laser for a headlight, very intense. If you get good globes and if need be additional driving lights, you will have a safer, better and cheaper result.
