Hi first time posting anyway will be picking up T in late July and wondered how people feel about car bras and whether or not they are useful. The rex I have has certainly suffered from stone chips and insects over the past 4 years. Do the xr's tend to suffer the stone chips bad or not?

:nono: Biggy, you will have alot of fun here!

Mate I have looked at a Car Bra as I drive to Ballarat 3 times per week. From my understanding and the guys can correct me if I am wrong, they are a pain to continually take on and off. Apparently as well you cannot use them in the wet as they will scratch your paint if left on.

I would love one if they were not such a hassle, as I have already got chips over the front bumper and bonnet. From other cars I have had, I find the T's paint chips very easily. I have found however the more layers of polish that you put on her the less the paint seems to chip :gooff:

:nono:

Bra's are for t*ts, not for cars !!!

I think they're friggin ugly things ... I mean, you've got your pride and joy, all washed, polished and sparkly ... then you want to cover the front of it with an ugly bra ???? I always try to make sure that there's plenty of distance between myself and the car ahead of me to minimise stones and gravel etc being thrown up. Slight chips etc are inevitable but if they annoy you, once every year just get one of those mobile paint and dent repairers to fix it up at a fraction of the cost of a paint shop / panel beaters.

yeec - I strongly agree. Just 'wear' (haha) the fact that your car will cop some stone chip damage, get it sorted out once a year, and get on with your life. They look awful, and they cover (especially on the T) the front of a gorgeous car - half the look of the T is the nose. Every time I look at the front of my baby, I get excited. Has there ever been a tougher, more agressive looking front end on an Aussie car?

No! :)

So in conclusion, no car bra.

I hate car bra's myself, they make the car look ugly, and as said be4, they are a pain to take off and put on all the time, cause if you leave them on, no matter how youve secured them, it will rub on your duco and leave an ugly mark/scratch

no car bra I say

I agree Lads, that is why I grin and bear the chips. As I said since she has had a regular polish I do no seem to get them as much :spoton:

Question, even though they have mesh vents for the air, would there be more restriction on the airflow and intercooler?

Thanks for the input will live with the chips and enjoy the car the way it should be. Also found an interesting site in UK where they put a film similar to window tint only clear on the front part of the car bonnet bumper area sposed to be pretty good. well cant wait to get the car should have some fun with just rear wheel drive only.

Welcome Biggy,

Mate, you won't have to worry too much about stone chips from cars in front 'cos they won't be there long enough :spoton:

You will enjoy driving the T after the Rex - just turn off traction control (TC) and enjoy those power slides you just can't get an AWD to do. Remember though to feel the car out a bit at first because it is a lot heavier than your Rex, but doesn't feel like it at first - but if you get it to the limit you will certainly notice the difference in weight.

As for car bras - well, someone has already stated what bras are used for ...

Enjoy the site and your new toy :spoton:
