I know there is another thread on power loss but it is not the same issue that I am having so I did not want to hijack it.

I am wondering if anyone has experienced any loss of power beyond 4000rpm in 4th (manual)? To be more specific. When accelerating WOT in 1-2-3 there is no problems however sometimes (maybe 50% of occasions) when WOT in 4th gear the car will rev cleanly to 4000rpm then drop back to about 3700rpm and slowly creep up to 4000rpm again but not past. This also happens in 5th (I can't remember if it occurs at the same rpm - think it may be less). The car does not go into limp mode, and makes no strange noises etc. Full power is achieved all the way to 4000rpm and all the way through the rev range in 1-2-3.

I can not for the life of me work out what this is! Has anyone experienced this or something similar? Does anyone have any clues? Thanks in advance.

Chris.

I don't think it's overboost. It used to overboost a bit when I first got it. The car went into limp mode for about a minute after an overboost but I haven't had that for ages.

It can't be speed limiter related either because the that shouldn't cut in till 230km/h which I am not doing.

Thanks for the suggestions, keep em coming coz I'm miffed :w00t2::w00t2::w00t2:

Does it do it every time the car is in 4th, and over 4000rpm?

If it does it only 50% of the time, it shouldnt be too hard to replicate when you take a technician for a drive. Just make sure Murphy isnt around!

I've got an auto so I'm not exactly sure about this but you'd be pretty dam close to 230Kl/h if doing 4000rpm in fifth. I can pull about 172Kl/h in 3rd without drive. On a private road of course.

Maybe your speed limiter is playing up.

happened to me twice dude on the way home from katomba on a really cold day. I found that if I backed off and hit it again it kept on going normally, I put it to a slight detection of over boost !

Hasent happened since (about 6000Km since last time)
