Ford Warranty on my APS Phase II

Well I got a phone call the next day informing me that the guys had stripped the engine and they strongly believed that a nut had unscrewed from on of the conrod bolts causing the engine failure and that if that was the case IT WAS A MANUFACTURING FAULT THAT SHOULD BE REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY :blink:

You should get some of the damaged bits & have them mounted on a plaque. I visited DJR today & he's got some stuff from when he visited Forest Elbow in '83 set into a mould. Always interesting billiard night fodder

Since your ute has a different engine now Dean you will have to get your phase 2 retuned, won't you? It will be interesting to see the differences, if any between the two engines.

Well done to the service guys at Knox ford, just goes to show what a good bunch of guys can do when the chips are down, Well done Cam. :kissmy:

I hope many of the forum members remember this when they come to purchase their next Ford. :ermm:

PS.. im not sure if you guys are aware, its not the dealer that coughs up for the rebuild, they just do the work and forward the bill onto Ford.

If you were aware of this, please ignore :)

Dealers dont get paid the normal retail amount though for warranty work - they get paid a prety minimal ammount which just covers their costs - also they have to usualy wait a while to get paid as the manufactuers usualy only pay monthly.

The upside is they get to make $$$$ on non warranty repairs/servicing.

It should be interesting to see how well the APS kit works with the new engine- perhaps a before and after dyno run could be performed.

Maybe you could see if Ford can put the LPG rods in which are said to be stronger - they are an off the shelf BA falcon part so I cant see it as being a big drama?

Sounds like a half decent dealership there xrdreaming.

I took my XR8 in for a coolant leak and an Oil leak the other day and the service guy tried to argue with me that I had voided my warrenty because I got an SS Induction kit fitted to my car. :spoton:

I went right off and his manager came over and he said straight away that the kit does NOT void my warrenty at all. I was quite bemused as he had to eat a big fat slice of humble pie. :flippingfinger:

Turns out they couldn't find the oil leak so they cleaned all my underbody and told me to bring it back after 500k's. To the service guys defence he was very polite when I came to pick my car up. Not that I am very happy with him.

I also have a metal contaminant in my power steering fluid and I enquired about that. It is quite noticable when you shine a torch in it so I took a sample and put it in a container and showed them. When I picked my car up the guy said it was quite common( wear and tear he says!) and not to worry??? So after 12000km's it should be common for the power steering fluid to be fairly contaminated???

Has anyone else's power steering fluid been like that with a similar amount of k's on the clock?
