Its not the BOV making the noise, its the air reverberating off the compressor wheel, making the "flutter" noise. When you replace the factory element with a free flowing type, like a K&N or similar, it is less restrictive, so more air can flow in and out.Ive got a XR8 airbox with a Battens adapter, and im also using a BMC filter, all is good! Sounds tops too! Thanks mate!

Guest Tockley Guests Posted 11/05/04 12:16 PM Share Posted 11/05/04 12:16 PM Ok Jamie XR6 and Ms 700, last question (I promise), can you both remember how much it was for the complete XR8 rampod, battens adapter and air filter? (I assume that you both either went K&N or BMC?) I think that by the look of it that the XR8/GT rampod will have a sh*tload more induction, but price is still a factor at the moment.. Doh!Cheers heaps,Tockley.

But I have "heard" ( )you can get them for around the $240 mark. This includes the genuine air filter.I put the Battens adapter on my XR8 box for around the $60 mark, then the BMC filter cost me a further $200. Am still not sure how much more the Battens/BMC mod did, we are dyno testing shortly.I personally recommend this mod, I have fitted it to numerous cars, and all of their owners are happy with the additional power and sound. Tockley, please dont feel embarassed or anything when it comes to asking questions. I personally enjoy answering these sorts of questions, and I certainly wouldnt know as much as I do now if it wasnt for people on this forum asking questions! You learn something every day, and ive learnt loads from this forum. People wont laugh at you if you ask too many. And they wont think any different of you either. Guest Tockley Guests Posted 11/05/04 12:39 PM Share Posted 11/05/04 12:39 PM Hehe, sweet. If that's the case, and since you work in spare parts, can you add the Battens adaptor to the stock XR8 pod filter? If so, do you have to drill the hole in the side of the pod and is it easy ?I want double the air intake for my XR8 as well as the Turbo and since I don't have to buy the Ram Pod part, it should be cheap yeah ?Thanks,Tock. If so, do you have to drill the hole in the side of the pod and is it easy ? Yes, that's the basic idea of the Battens adapter, it attaches on the side of your XR8 assembly. So you can use both the XR8 intake pipe and you existing XR6T intake pipe. Yuo do have to drill holes in the side of the round case, it is relatively straight forward though. Battens supply very good instructions.
