Can't find any info on Petrol availability in Tas, specifically 98 RON fuel.

Man, looks like I'l be hiring a car  :kissmy:

Not to take across on the ship you won't... you'll probably have to fly down then grab the hire car and meet up with the group..... I think half the fun would be the cruise across!

I'm pretty sure I've seen Optimax at quite a few places down there..... don't quote me though! :kissmy:

Elvis is right you couldn't buy Optimax in Tassie last year.... :cussing: ...and on the west coast it was hard enough to get 95ron...will only need to refuel once on the west coast so a jerry can of 95ron bought in Devonport might be the answer

I will be detuning my T before the trip as you can't take Toluene on the ferry...Somebody in tassie will be selling a lot of octane booster me thinks...

OK Guys, It takes a Mexican to do a little research for you, Here is the link of Shell stations in Tassie

http://www-static.shell.com/static/au-en/d...or/tas_0818.pdf

NO OPTIMAX IN TASSIE!!!

NO MOBIL SYNERGY 8000 IN TASSIE!!! (Checked on their website)

NO BP ULTIMATE IN TASSIE !!! (Their website shows 1 service station in Hobart with Ultimate but I rang and to confirm it and they said 95 RON is all they have)

However I will have a stall set up at Station Pier selling octane boost by the 5 litre drum.

Thanks Dean.

Is Tasmania really a part of Australia?

I'll have to make sure I have a full tank of Optimax from Melbourne, and possibly some spare fuel.

Just how far are we driving in Tas?

Brian

Problem is Brian...pretty sure you can't take spare fuel on the ferry...and they search all cars before you get on.

Well that ruins my theory, I was just going to suggest a few 44 gallon drums of the good stuff in the back of Deans ute - that wouldn't be obvious at all would it?

Trent.

Looks like Caltex/Ampol ain't too bad.... :spoton:

Servos on order of cruise route....

SUN Devonport to Strahan over Cradle Mtn : ~350km

Devonport - Ampol @ 118 WILLIAM ST (Ampol Gold)

Rosebery - Caltex @ 1 READ ST (Premium)

MON Strahan to Hobart : ~300km

Queenstown - Caltex @ 5-7 CUTTEN ST (Premium)

Hobart North - Caltex @ 27 HILL ST (Vortex)

Hobart South - Caltex @ 272 MACQUARIE ST (Vortex)

TUE Hobart to Geeveston and back : 150-200km roundtrip

Just use Hobart servos

Huonville - Caltex @ 45 MAIN RD (Premium)

Kettering - Ampol @ CHANNEL HWY (Ampol Gold)

WED Mt Wellington run : "not far at all"

Just use Hobart servos

THU Hobart to Port Arthur and back : ~220km roundtrip

Just use Hobart servos

Sorell - Caltex @ 2 COLE ST (Vortex)

FRI Hobart to Launceston : ~220km up Midlands Hwy

Epping Forest - Caltex @ MIDLANDS HWY (Premium)

Launceston - Caltex @ 207-215 CHARLES ST (Vortex)

SAT Launceston to Devonport : ~115km

Just use Launceston or Devonport servos

I ain't even gonna think about checking out the SYD-MEL fuel situation. All I care about is that it's roughly 830km from our usual Mt Annan rally point down to Port Melbourne. I'll leave the pitstop co-ordination to someone else..... :gooff:

FYI, Ampol Gold = Caltex Vortex, minimum 95RON octane rating (96RON in most mainland capitals). As for the "Caltex Premium" fuel, it's supposed to be 95RON too (but don't quote me on that!).

*sigh* Need sleep now...... :censored:
