Cruise to Tasmania

Last year we had the Fordxr6turbo.com national cruise to Melbourne/Geelong and what a hoot that was :gooff:

This year we are going to Tasmania

We are doing a cruise to Tasmania in November for a week

The plan is to travel to Melbourne for a general meet up,then sail to Devonport and then to explore and enjoy Tassie's great roads and sites for a week

UPDATE

This is an approximate itenary –

Please anyone who is going and wants to do something specific please pm me so I can add it in if possible

The accommodation is being sorted but I need to know definite numbers to get everything in place

Day 1 Saturday 20/11/04

Meet at MT Annan @ 6.30am for a 7am departure We will stop at Yass to meet the Canberrians at approx 9am then drive thru to Melbourne We need to be at the ferry by 7pm

Day 2 Sunday 21/11/04

Arrive Devonport 7am

Meet others who may have travelled down a different route-I.e SWMBO,some members who may sail from Sydney,other interstate members

Cruise down to Deloraine via Sheffield,

Then up over Cradle Mtn to Zeehan,Strahan

First night stopover Accomodation has been booked for comfirmed Cruisers at the Strahan Holiday Park Anyone else wishing to go please let me know

Day 3 Monday 22/11/04

Leave Strahan for Hobart where we will be based for 3 days

Accomodation has been booked for comfirmed Cruisers at Motel 429 opposite Wrest Point Casino Anyone else wishing to go please let me know

Day 4 Tuesday 23/11/04

Cruise south to Huonville,Geeverston and then follow the loop back along the coast

Day 5 Wednesday 24/11/04

This will be spent around Hobart visiting the sites of the capital and a Cadbury’s tour,brewery and wine tour and a quick blat up Mt Wellington

Cadbury Schweppes Chocolate Factory

Cadbury Road, Claremont, Tasmania 7011

Tour cost is $12.50 per adult, $6.50 per child (5-15yrs). I couldn't recall if anyone has said if they are bringing any rugrats, but it's no problem if the mix changes.

TOUR RULES:

* It is an industrial worksite, therefore fully enclosed footwear and suitable dress attire is necessary. Thongs and sandals are not acceptable.

* Do not wear any jewellery while on the tour. Cadburys will not be held responsible or liable for any items lost during the tour.

* Chocolate sales are not made available to the public unless participating on a factory tour.

* The existing tour may not suit those who have difficulties with climbing stairs.

* No cameras, videos or mobile phones are permitted to be taken on a factory tour.

Cascade Brewery Tour

24/11/04 @ 1.30pm....cost Adults $16.00

The tour takes approximately 1 ½ hrs. The tour includes a tour through the Malting house, Brewing and packaging areas of the Brewery. Further, the tour takes you through our Heritage listed cottage gardens and finishes in the Historic Woodstock Homestead. The tour is wrapped up with an opportunity to taste 3 different Cascade beers or try one of our Traditional soft drinks.

SAFETY REQUIRMENTS

1. Visitors must wear flat, fully enclosed shoes - NO THONGS OR SANDALS

2 For Safety reasons full length pants are required - not shorts or skirts

3. The Brewery has 200 or so stairs so it is not suitable for somebody has walking problems or uses a walking aid.

Day 6 Thursday 25/11/04

Cruise down to Port Authur

Day 7 Friday 26/11/04

We will cruise up the East coast to Launceston(Boags)

Day 8 Saturday 27/11/04

Cruise back to Devonport for the cruise back home on the Saturday night

Day 9 Sunday 28/11/04

This is where the misery starts and the trek back up the humourless to Sydney

...and to think, if I hadn't bought the T I wouldn't have been apart of this great forum, got to meet you great people and have the chance to:

-cruise to the Hunter

-cruise to Bathurst (possibly)

-cruise to Tasmania + all the other daily cruises organised

Keep up the great work mods, cruise controllers and of course the members of this forum!!!

Sounds awesome, would be a great opportunity to meet up with some more fellow forumites as well as the brilliant drive and scenery in Tassie.

Trumpy , please, please please can we go to the Boags factory.

:lol: .. the feline were already talking about this very thing.

A week driving tassie, however we won't bother with the drive down the hume. A night on the ship sounds like a hoot with great driving for a week after it.

Count us in late Nov.. as my work load eases a bit by then.
