Injectors necessary?

Good day guys,

Just curious to know if it is possible to reach 300+Kw using standard injectors?

A Ford dealer thinks so in their aftermarket package; front mount intercooler (PWR), computer including sensors, exhaust (from turbo) and 9 pound boost! Can it be done???

All feedback taken, like anything there are lots of different opinions.

Cheers

I dont know enough about this ( plenty of others on the site will ) but am curious about dealers offering go-fast gear for the T's. Can you expand on what $$ this package is and the dealer? Oh, :pooh:

Tony,

I asked the same question specificly regarding injectors and the APS phase1 kit.

The thread can be found HERE and according the Peter from APS the stock injectors will run out of puff before you are making 300fwkw.

I would also be very careful with the PWR intercooler, do a search on this site as some people have noticed worse performance and a bigger pressure drop using this cooler.

Oh and welcome to the forum :pooh:

Good day guys,

Thanks for the welcome ZapXR6T.

The dealer fitted kit is not cheap:

Stage 1- Chip Smart computer 270Kw $1650.00

Stage 2- Intercooler with plumbing

Computer and sensor mods inc fuel regulator

3 inch stainless steel exhaust from turbo with cat

Air box

300+Kw $8500.00

Not cheap, but if you spend 50K buying a car whats another 10K modifying it and you get to keep the warranty (written). Also the car comes with a compliance plate of sort noting the mods as factory options (no engineers, insurance or cops can hasle you, in theory)

I ordered the car 3 months ago and have been looking at the options in that time, it will be getting the stage 2 fitted on Monday at New Oak Ford (FPV in Caulfield) and I will let you know how it goes. If you compare the price of a high performance exhaust for a GT at $4500 and the fact that I have seen numerous cars receive that mod then the turbo mod seems reasonable.

The 300Kw is conservative, for obvious reasons but it can be packed to throw a punch. I contacted APS, Nizpro, AVO, ATS(P) all great packages and service I am sure but the dealer is probably the best bet until warranties expire, technically they designed the car so they should know about it. Im not planning to break land speed records just have a well balanced car.

All my opinion, I could be wrong!

Cheers

Tony,

I am suprised that there is a warranty on these items. I would bet that it is a dealer warranty and not a Ford warranty. I would be reading the fine print VERY carefully as you might get a shock if you do the diff or gearbox.

Also for $10k you could get the whole APS phase 3 kit...that's 390kw, but not the same warranty.

Either way you will be happy with a T (so im told) and the extra KW will just widen your smile

Good day ZapXR6T,

We have a fleet of some 8 cars maintained by the dealer and a buying relationship stretching over 20 years, I would hate to think it necessary to read the fine print.

I owned a VL Turbo highly moded from new, great car and with 390+Kw not really a daily driver. The point of huge power figures should be looked for after the warrenty expires, better to spend 10K and buy an 11sec VL in that case and keep the BA standard as they are quick as it is.

I really need a car capable of daily use and have had bad experiences with small (in-efficient) intercoolers in high temp/traffic in the past.

Again guys, just my opinion! Great cars

Cheers

Howdy tonyd05,

I agree with Zap at looking more closely at what type of warranty you will have with a dealer-fitted modification. Like Zap, I would be very surprised that you would have a Ford warranty on a vehicle so heavily modified especially given Ford's latest directive to dealers about Warranty which you can read in this recently discussed thread HERE.

In summary, all Zap and I are saying is "buyer beware" which is great advice in any situation.

Safe and happy driving...Dr Z.

Tony,

All I can say is you are lucky.

My dealer would void my engine warranty if I put on cold air induction :yay:

I guess I am a bit Jelous as I would be doing exactly what you are doing if my tight :gooff: dealer allowed some or ANY mods. When I pick up my car next week I will ask to see their warranty guy and see if a bit of beer talk can allow me at least cold air induction :gooff:

I had a very good relationship with my Mitsubishi dealer and their service department, I guess I can try the same with my new ford dealership.

Zapxrt

Mate your dealer is being totally unreasonable if he voids warranty for either CAI or filters. Haven't heard of any dealer having an issue with these minor enhancements.Maybe others have ?
