Hi again,

Seperate topic as seperate question: My dealer tells me that there is a difference between the leather in the AUII XR's and the BA XR's, apparently it's HAL leather (not sure of spelling) and is better. My complaint with the AU leather is that it's very vinyl like, if you know what I mean.

Any comments from anyone who has had both?

Simon....

I quite like the leather in the BA. Havent had leather before but been in other cars like my cousins GTS which has leather, and i tend to think the BA leather especially in my XR6 is really good.

Haven't owned both however have experienced both and I noticed that the AU leather tends to be more shiny/slippery and retain the heat a lot more than the BA.

Hi guys! Great forum and very informative. This is my first time posting on a forum so please forgive any mistakes I may make.

I have just requested a quote from the lease company that looks after the novated leases at the mine I work at and was hoping to get some tips on the best options too choose.

I have already decided on the Phantom paint, 18" wheels, premium sound and brakes, but I am not happy with the interior plastic on the car I test drove. The interior door handles in particular looked like they would wear and scuff very easily. I was wondering if the leather option replaces these handles? Also, what are the leather seats like comfort wise? I am 6'2" and was very impressed with the fabric seats, ( why is that foot rest so far away?) so I would expect the leather to be better again.

One of the reasons I am asking here is that the dealer in town won't give you the time of day when they know you are going to lease the vehicle. They can't match the capital city discount so they know they won't get the sale. *end of whinge*

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I have searched the forums for an answer but haven't found one so I apologise if this topic has already been covered.

Thanks in advance,

Brett

welcome aboard bbb001,

the leather interior is great. you only get the seats in the leather - door trims are still plastic. I haven't had a problem with the plastic door trims scratching, but then my car is only 3,000kms old. I find the leather better because it is less dusty than fabric. comfort is not an issue. the seats are very comfortable

I am also 6"2 and I found the leather seats to be superiour in comfort and apperance to the standard fabric.

Add the other advantages of leather: looks great, feels great, easy cleaning, good selling point ... and leather is a great advantage.

When you option leather you get the two front seats the back seat and the inserts on all four doors - the handles stay the same but the fabric panel below the handles is replaced with leather.

I think the interiour of the leather options car is totally difference envirm=oment to the standard fabric - it makes one hell of a difference to the "feeling" of the cabin.

I'm not trying to be an arse or something close to that....I've got DBA rotors in my beast, enjoyed having them on, really improved braking even with stock calipers (but upgraded pads). Trouble is, I remember reading the fine print on the packaging (a mate of mine bought a set for his AU3 XR8) and it says "Not for use on modified high performance vehicles".... .... errrm....XR6....is high performance....XR6 with a T....is FARKING HIGH PERFORMANCE!!!!! I'd suggest getting two piece slotted rotors. You'll see that Herrod and companies such as SVO recommend slotted ones (check out their premium brake options).

Sorry, a little OT from leather topic....sorry again

charliewool,

I ordered a set of DBA Longlife Gold Drilled and Slotted brake rotors for the "T" when I ordered the car. I'm just replacing the rotors because I think the calipers are good enough. pricing has not been published yet for the BA, but they usually cost about $320 per pair. the dealer was happy to add $320 onto to the price of the car, so they were confident that would be close to the price. they already have a part no. for the BA, but rotors will not be available until mid April. I'm predicting that my own brake upgrade (about $700 for all rotors) will be better value than the $3000 you pay for the Premium Brakes. plus the rotors are gold in colour and should look great on the acid rush turbo. go to www.dba.com.au and you will find all the info you need. you can download a catalogue in pdf format. good luck!
