Guest Tockley Guests Posted 02/05/04 04:58 AM Share Posted 02/05/04 04:58 AM You get the (near on) $3,000 sunroof and a couple of days after you have the car the sunroof decides that after you have it open and want to close it, it goes to close, and the hits then end and goes back into the open position, and then repeats the whole process. Sorta like watching really slow tennis ! So I ring Ford naturally and get told that when I pick up my Ute (on that coming Friday) that they would be glad to have a look at it. So we take the Turbo to pick up my car and the Service guy jumps in it, and after a few mins gives my g/f back the keys (I was signing the paperwork for my new car at the time) and tells her that "she's all fixed." Just a few days later, the whole process repeats it's self once more...If 3 fat ones aren't enough to make you ask some questions about how they can charge that much for a piece of glass, then the fact that it not working should. Especially when you are told by the service guy that the :censored:ing thing has been fixed. I even questioned him as to whether he tested it properly! Good old Aussie quality eh? And while I'm having a sook about shelling out big dosh for apparently not much, I ordered the Heavy Tow Pack for the XR8 Ute, and nearly fell over when I got it home and DIDN'T find a tow ball anywhere, or a Towplug adapter (to convert it to a round 7 pin plug) ?!?! me dead! The Tow Pack cost $1,100 or there abouts, and they can't throw in a :censored:ing $12 towball and $21 plug adapter???And why the don't the Ute's have traction control ? ?I just hope the :o ing idiot that decided to leave that option out has had his dumb :o fired !!Tockley out... What good is that? MEMO TO FORD:Just spend the extra $14 and add the tow ball and another U bolt to make it safe too.I would be a bit annoyed too Tockley

Must be running on a Microsoft operating system.Unfortunatley it happened within a couple of days for you.
Guest Tockley Guests Posted 02/05/04 07:01 AM Share Posted 02/05/04 07:01 AM (edited) Ok, NT TURBO: I'm not sure what the light tow pack costs but I think it's somewhere around the $300 - $400 mark. You can pull nearly 2.5 tonne though (needs an Auto as well)XR6 NA: Umm It's still hard to say as far as performance goes, as they are still running in. The Turbo nearly has 1,500 on the clock but the Ute only has around the 700 Kay mark. They both pull hard but after having them for a couple of weeks, I've gotten used to the power (as well as the sh*tty fuel consumption) and they are no longer a rush to drive unfortunately. The ute is auto which is good if you wanna be lazy, but I have to say that the exhaust on the XR8 sounds very bland. I get really pissed when I rock up to somewhere and people ask me if it is a 6 or an 8!?! The XR6T's exhaust sounds louder on idle! Also, Peter Luxon from APS has stated that there is such a huge range of what the factory power outputs can be that it is rediculous. I heard that there can be differences of up to 40Kw in power output from car to car...CRO: I feel your pain. A nice exhaust on both will give you the sound you want - trust me.The sunroof seems high @ $3K, paid $2 for mine - though had a minor problem with the setup. If you hold down one of the preset buttons too long you actually reprogram that setting to the current roof position. They reflashed it and all has been sweet since. On the tow bar side, I have the light pak and it came with a shiny new chrome ball and both U bolts. It may be a cost saving exercise by the dealer not Ford. The fact that the utes do not have traction control I think reading somewhere has something to do with the rear end being so light. The utes see more dirt and will lose traction more often than a sedan. Would be very frustrating to have the engine cutoff while in the middle of doughnuts in the paddock!!!!!   Edited 03/05/04 05:47 AM by XR6T4ME
