I'm with you Falcoon, if I have to drive on a dirt road I take my wife's car (Ford Festiva) . The shame. But at least the Beast stays clean and no stone chips up the side of the car.

LOL...you let your wife drive the T???? Mannn...you're a nice guy!

The only time I let my wife drive mine is around a parking space with no cars...and I do mean a huge parking space.

Nice pixxies, keep em coming. And also, try taking some video captures of your beast flying off the line, that'd be cool too. Capture the ROARRRRRRRRRRR......

TC is best turned off on dirt. As it comes on all the time.

I had the cruise control on and forgot to turn the TC off. When I hit a bit of sand, the TC would come on and turn off the CC. Hitting a patch of sand has the same effect of hitting a puddle of water. Acts like an uncontrolled brake depending on what part of the car hits the sand.

I had no issues doing a 400km dirt stint. I would do it again, but this time leave the 18' at home. Simply as tyre damage is something that will virtually never get covered under warranty. Ford Explorer and Firestone tyres in the US, rings a bell.

I would just like differentiate between gravel and dirt roads. Dirt is quite smooth and easily handled 100km stints. The only times I slowed down was for wildlife and coming to crests. Apart from that, the straight dirt road I drive on was in better condition than Parramatta Road. The surface was quite solid with only small patches of sand. No hard or sharp rocks as often found on gravel roads.

As you can see by the pics, the roads were 3-4 cars wide and I good condition. During the dirt part of the trip no one passed me and I didn’t pass anyone.

I thought it was good of skip to lie still for the photo. :P

That prob started after hitting a pot hole leaving sydney. Then bumped it again on the same spot. :(
