I seem to remember the Bathurst RSL has good food and a bigscreen TV. Its also a stones throw from town and the track :spoton:

My Mum just sold out her share in the "Railway Hotel" in Bathurst which is on the way up to the Mount. I am sure that she is still in touch with the new owners and may be able to get a deal for us..

No promises but I will check it out

Cheers

I agree with Ken, in regards to stopping overnight.

This would not put so much pressure on those travelling from Wollongong, Canberra or even further south. An overnight stay also means we don't have such a hectic pace, and we can socialize a bit more in the evening.

MissXR. Gladly handing the reins over to you.

I would be OK with an overnight stay as I have relatives there which is why I am always up there anyways and gives me a place to stay for free :spoton:

I would be hoping for Bells road and the Jenolan, Oberon Bathurst on the way up. Then perhaps this other road that was talked about in this thread from bathurst to Lithgow on the way back then back down the mountains the normal way for an easy trip home assuming it aint hte oberon road.

Trumpy you gonna come and bring a camera again?

No. It ain’t the Oberon Rd. It is a series of back roads that are so quiet that last time I went to the 1000, I left just after the presentation and only saw one other car on the entire trip back to Lithgow. It was shown to me by a mate who used to live along the route, about 15km out of Bathurst. He suggested it as an alternative when the Highway was closed due to snow at Mount Lambie one weekend. I have since used it for trips home from the 1000 or just as an interesting alternative to the Highway, although I haven’t used it for about 4 years, since my mate moved out of Bathurst.

Whilst it is no big secret I would rather not publish the details on the Interweb as I’m sure the locals don’t want their quiet roads turned into a major thoroughfare, even for just one day of the year. I will prepare some legible directions and PM them to MissXR and anybody else who is interested.

The next two dates that are available for a cruise to watch the V8's on the big screen and also cruise to Bathurst are:

Sunday 15th August 2004 - V8 Supercars, Oran Park

Sunday 12th September 2004 - V8 Supercars, Sandown 500

Do you guys want to wait that long, or should we choose another weekend and do something else when we get there ( as well as go around the mountain and get dizzy ).

The choice is yours...... if you choose to make it another weekend, I have something in mind

Sharkey, PM me with the cruise route so I can check it out. :kissmy:

my vote is another weekend...I wasn't too keen on watching the V8's at the pub anyway.

However, in saying that, I will fit in with the majority.

Ok No V8 supercars for the Turbo people ;)

Me - love them. Watch them all the time...

I have received the route we will be taking ( I hope, thanks sharkey ), just have to pick a date and type it up.... will do this very soon.

I have a heap of stuff to give away ( Oh no it's V8 supercar stuff ), so I have been thinking what can I do to make the cruise just a little more interesting.

:P
