He then tried to sell me a Manta exhaust and cold air intake for the paltry sum $1950.00. He quoted 260kw, seems a lot of dough for 20kw . my question is has anyone gone down this track and if it is worth the dough . Maybe an aps phase one would be better value , if it doesnt void the warrantee and the price is right .Dave m Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/10454-manta-exhausts/ Share on other sites

Lifetime Members 10,282 Member For: 22y 6d Gender: Male Location: Victoria Posted 30/04/04 02:55 AM Share Posted 30/04/04 02:55 AM The XR6T isn't a LS1, I doubt that would make that much of an improvment. If you want to go through with it make a del with the dealer to dyno the car to measure it's current kw's. Fit the exhaust and CAI then dyno it again, if it improves by the quoted 20kw's they've got a sale if it doesn't, go back to stock and no sale. I'd almost bet that they wouldn't? Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/10454-manta-exhausts/#findComment-116801 Share on other sites
cdm Member 886 Member For: 22y 6m 20d Posted 30/04/04 04:09 AM Share Posted 30/04/04 04:09 AM I don't think it will make any difference. Without fiddling with the computer, a better flowing exhaust and intake setup will result in less back pressure and higher then standard boost levels. What this means is that once boost goes over 6psi (or 7?) the computer will kill the fun and register an overboost. In other words, little or no gain unless you play with the computer. I would suggest your best bet would be to get in touch with APS or Chiptorque and investigate a chip.Cheers, Chris Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/10454-manta-exhausts/#findComment-116803 Share on other sites

Just get the Geea stage 1 Less than $350 and it will give you the same sort of gains. If you go any further than stage 1 you will need a chip of some sort (Xede or Unichip I would recomend). Gain was 7rwkw's. Going by the Geelong XR Owners club the BMC filter is good for 9-12kws, so the exhaust dropped power by 2 - 5 rwkws.Note was awesome, but for power gains, would'nt waste my money mate. Paid $700 for twin SS hot dogs replacement for the centre muffler on the GT, noticed a little gain, to be confirmed next week on dyno, and for Dave Bowes to comment, 'Sh!t, your car sounds good!!' is fair endorsement for me!
