As a matter of fact, I've been trying to educate my troops at my new station to go out on the M4, sit in the Number three lane doing 15-20 over, making sure that the sign on the roof bar "Keep left unless overtaking" is illuminated and booking all the people that use the overtaking lane unnecessarily.

The quickest lane on the M4 is lane one - the kerbside lane. The vast majority of people sit in lane 2, trundling along at 5-10 km/h under the limit. Far more than the number of people sitting in lane 3. Either way, drives me f ucken nuts :spoton:

Don't know if its really illegal or not, but I often make a point of sailing past them in lane 1, when I could just have easily gone past in lane 3 (far right lane). Actually works, sometimes, and they move over.

I think one way to get bad drivers off the road is to dob in a dumb c..t

Have a phone number that you call and report bad driving. If you get more than 3 people calling in a day about a really bad offence or more than 6 calls a year you go to traffic school and need to re sit your L and P tests again.

If you get no calls for 5 years, you get a platnum license.

I think that if people knew they could be busted by anyone they may consider being a better driver.

One thing that really pi$$es me off is some iddiot driver does a stupid thing and then gives me the :flippingfinger: I wanna tear them a new as*hole.

If I can call up and report the as*hole he may think twice and say sorry instead of flipping me off.

People do make the odd mistake when driving. I've seen the odd driver (myself included) do a stupid thing. It seems the older crowd just give an "acknowledging" wave to say sorry, because they know they've made a mistake. But seriously what part of "keep left unless overtaking", "lane merging", "form one lane" etc can't be understood (don't get me started on lane changes in Canberra, except for the left turn off northbourne onto the barton hwy, where it seems people do let you in more often than elsewhere).

Well, a few weeks ago, I'm driving along Gunghalin Drive. A clubsport sitting on 80km/h. I go about 84-85km/h (as shown on my spedo, which is basically 80km/h). Slowly start overtaking. Then he speeds up. I am reluctant to speed on this street, because if there isn't a camera van, there is usually 2 motorbike police waiting with a laser. I slowly increase the speed and he does the same, I then indicate and he wouldn't let me in. Not wanting to gun it on a risky road I just slowed down and sat behind him. He then slowed back down to 80km/h. Luckily my trun was coming up, but if it didn't I woulda lost it.

I agree with Aniken on this one. Why do people think that 'keep left' means 'stay in the middle'?

I also cruise along in lane 1, passing the bottleneck in lanes 2 & 3. On 2 occassions the car in lane 2 causing the bottleneck has turned out to be an unmarked police car and has flicked on the lights and siren and pulled me over. Both times I got let off with a warning.

Plonky - good to hear you guys are finally doing something about this. It has been a pet hate of mine for years.

I call it the undertakers lane it's always the quickest but you never know when some pussnut's going to pull out in front of you or change lanes without looking in the rear view mirror.
