Guest Turbo-6 Guests Posted 23/02/03 09:47 PM Share Posted 23/02/03 09:47 PM Whilst driving around in the XR6T for about an hour with the air-con on, I noticed white vapours coming through the centre dash vents. I immediately switched the air-con off and went home. I checked under the bonnet and the air-con pipes were covered with water.Could this occur if the air-con pipes became frozen? If so, why would they freeze?
Guest harasn Guests Posted 24/02/03 02:04 AM Share Posted 24/02/03 02:04 AM the mist coming out of the air vents it from high temperaute out side and high moisture content, I think you will find. only occurs on a/c that's wourking extremely well. almost to well as its trying to freeze the air coming out of the vents. If you have the air conditioner on full cold and recirculate mode the temperature coming out of the vents can get to 2.5 to 3 degree's. cold in anyones language.as for the A/c system not working properly in those hot conditions what mode have you got the a/c on. to get the coldest air you have to have the recirc mode on which is the arrow that turns back on its self. easiest way is to switch the temp control to the coldest setting. this should turn the a\c on and put it in recirc mode. you should hear the fan alot louder and it should be blowing more air. gets bloody cold bloody quick. if you dont here the fan get louder and faster you have a problem that the dealer needs to look at.BA A/C is far superior to Au or anything before it by a long way. go for a long drive and soon you can move you hand because you froze it!The air conditioner pipes will get wet and also very cold in some places but they can also get very hot. And the A?C dosn't run water through the pipes it runs a gas at very high pressure so don't think you can play with the fittings or you'll get hurt! If so, why would they freeze? The pipes were not frozen - it is simply condensation on the OUTSIDE because the inside temp (of the pipe) is so much colder - it is quite normal. The gas inside the pipes cannot freeze unless both the thermostat AND Tx valve fail.
