Is it auto or manual. Mine makes a kind of a ticking/rattling noise when in 3rd gear. But if I hold on to the gear stick it kind of stops making me think there is something loose.

Fearing smart and more informed comments from JB I will try and provide you with some practical assistance.

It is a grey coloured relay which sits on the front right wheelarch beneath the underbonnet fusebox (ie it's not actually in the fuse and relay box with theother relays). If standing in front of the car with the bonnet open, locate the rear, right and lower corner of the battery (right and rear with reference to the way you are now facing) and you will find a lone relay sitting there. The relay's thin metal mounting plate had been bent slighty, sufficient only to bring the relay body in contact with the car chassis and generate the vibration.

I hope that helps and cures your problem.

igsta,

I have the same problem in 2nd & 3rd. Hold the stick and the noise disappears. Reported it and they could not fault it. Car is going back for a new diff soon so will take them for a drive and point it out. Hopefully will be able 2 let you know what the fix is ASAP.
