Guys. I'm seriously thinking of going for a CAPA Vortech (non intercooled) supercharger kit. (4-8 psi). I could throw a turbo on it but then it's just an N/A wanting to be a turbo and never will be. Besides, there would not be many supercharged BA's just yet. I'm just wondering if I really need to get stronger conrods for the Barra 182. As they are different from the Barra 240T?? Or are they?

Cheers.

NA Thunder,

have you read the article in the motor magazine tuning special, there is an awesome article on a super charger for the NA xr6, it costs all up about $8000.

Ed,

Have you done the numbers on selling your beast and buying a s/h Turbo of similar age and spec? The difference in cost between doing that and going down the supercharged route must be very similar except you wont have insurance, warranty or legality issues. Proabably better resale down the track too.

I'll just wait till you're asleep Scotty, if you hear noises outside, just pay no attention..lol. :spoton::spoton:

Mondie. Yeah I have done the figures. $14,000+ Balloon to pay off? Not worth it. I've dug my grave, might as well lie in it and have some fun. Who knows. I've always wanted to do it. Toyed with a sprintex in an old Hardtop I had and hmmm, oh what fun. Either way, I'm going to lose a sload of moula on this thing so why not have some fun.

Warranty, yeah well that's void anyway once the computer and extractors were installed now that Ford are really nutting down on that so I'm not really that concerned. I just can't see why superchargers are such an issue. More control, less strain on the motor, more fuel efficient, something goes wrong...Possibly less damage to the motor. Make perfect sense as far as I can see.

I'm not after a 10 second 1/4 mile monster, just the basic kit, between 4-8psi non-intercooled Vortech kit to make the N/A equal to or slightly better than a stocko T.

Call me mad, I know. Oh well. :w00t2:

Youre not mad. Trust me, once you hear the whine of a Vortech's geardrive, you wont look back! I absolutely love the sound of a Vortech blower. I can pick it a mile off. There is a supercharged 240 Zed video file going around, those that have heard it know what I mean! :spoton:

Ive got a Vortech, and its super. The sound of them at idle, and winding up is pure sexual chocolate!

MS700, Thank you!!!

Also in my current loan arrangement, I'd loose way too much. I feel it is the right option for me.

MS700, you are probably one of the people to ask. The Barra 182 conrods are up to the task aren't they?

Sorry to hi-jack the thread guys, that's all I was after. :spoton:

Dude, it's OK. It's my hi-jack, my bad. I just asked a question on the Barra 182 conrods being up to the task when the orig. thread was about the F6 having stronger conrods over the T. I'm just after advice.
