It's pretty easy if you know how to use a multi tester.

There are 2 plugs behind the fuse box, 1 with 4 wires, and 1 with 2 wires. The one with 2 wires is for the speakers (audio out on your phone hands free kit), and of the 4 wires on the other plug, you will find, 1 with +12V, 1 with IGN +12V (ign. on/off), 1 with around +5V which drags the radio to ground and mutes the audio, and last a ground wire.

Depending on your make of phone, it's than just a matter of matching up the variours connections, and the system works as described earlier in this thread.

Ninka,

Hey bud. You are a fountain of info.

First you give us the info on the boot lid liner and then the info on the sunnies holder. All Top stuff....

That is exatly what I was after. I do have a multi meter and am ready with the soldering iron (as soon as I get my car that is!)

Are the plugs standard and of the purchaseable type from your local electronics shop??

You may want to make sure that one of the speaker (audio) wires is not also ground on the phone AND car audio side 'else you may short the I/p to the audio system. If they are, just ensure you match 'em up.

What sort of phone do you have? I have a 5110 series phone kit so I can take some pics showing wiring if it is helpful.

Richdave,

Ok thanks. I will remeber to check and see if either is ground..

I have a 3rd party Sitec universal unit for my 6210 Nokia. I have the pin outs for the unit re power, IGN ground etc.

I have purchased a phone presenter but it looks cheap compaired to the AUII one I had. So I will see how that goes before I mount it.

Any pics would be appreciated.

Thanks.

6210 is the same family of phone. I'll do my best to get you some pics over the week end.....just that I gotta take a screwdriver to the panel to get to the back of it..... :)

BTW I didnt end up with the presenter, I thought it was flimsy and impractical....so when the dealer said there was nil stock I wasn't too unhappy to drop it from the order.

hi all,

had mine put in & was told that you could adjust settings as you can with the stereo. I've been unable to work out any adjustments thus far.

KTFord,

Mate. You can only adjust the speaker sound coming from the Audio system. This only happens when the Display is showing "Media" / when you are actually doing stuff on the phone. So press a few buttons and the display on the audio system will change to media and then twirl the volume knob on the audio system..

That is the only adjustment you can make.

Just for interest sake. Did you use the Ford phone presenter or did they install the cradle screwed to the side of the dash?..

I used the phone presenter and it is a little flimsy. I may move mine yet.!

For those wanting to have a go at installing a phone setup them selves. Let me know and I will provide the how to.... (pin outs on the plug and how to remove the console stuff!) :bookworm:

Richdave - Did you ever get the button tones working?? I have a nokia 6210 and a 3rd party Sitec system. I hear all button tones after the first one (The first one initiates the audio system to change to media)...

I've had mine installed into the panel beside the stereo, so there are no holes visible. Yes the volume control works well. My phone is a Motorola V8088 with a genuine kit.

CraigH,

No problems...

I am in Sydney at present (Live in Melbourne - Ahhh a brand new XR6T sitting at home). I will take a few pics and paste them into a Word document and post it over the weekend.

It is real simple. The centre console (top bits) is real easy to get to where you need to be.

Stay tunned...
